  • $15 Minimum wage and how does that affect groomers

No it is not immediate but shops with staff stand to be affected or not. Around here bathers are making $10 to $12 now but I know others pay less. I pay $14 now, so not a big deal to me.

I know if I were working for someone else I'd want at very least $15.00 an hour with my experience, that's if it's a great shop I could work at my own pace. Honestly when I hear of experienced bathers or groomers only getting $10-12 an hour (with no commission ) I feel they're getting robbed but if they accept it, I can't bash it.

I believe the 15 an hour is for full time worker.

I suspect many will be reduced to "part time" to overcome this hike in min wage pay.

Also tip wage workers are exempt from the minimum wage such as groomers and waiters. It's going to be phased in over several years regardless.

In N.Y. yes, California requires employers to pay tipped employees full state minimum wage.
