Prank Calls

Does anyone else get any interesting ones? We have a kid that calls frequently asking us to groom his bizarre pets

Pluck his turkey
Wax his turtle
Shave a guinea pig
The pet is deceased and he needs it groomed for the funeral

Another once, also recently, called and said we switched out his dog

I've also had some not nice/obscene ones the past few months. Is it just me or do kids like to prank call groomers? I've never had this many in any other profession.

When I worked at Petsomething we had someone call for a price to shave his tarantula.

I haven't really had them with my grooming business, but when I was a tech at a Vet clinic, I would get the obscene ones. One of the times I answered one of these calls, I told the caller: "I can make an appointment for you, we neuter tom cats here!"

We definitely have had kids call with pranks over the years. Giggles at their own pranks. I just hang up.

Have gotten a couple, and I usually put up with it to a certain degree... after 10 calls in as many minutes one busy evening from a pair of phone numbers asking to groom increasingly absurd animals, I had to inform them that we did have caller ID, and after I dialed back both numbers they did stop calling. I've also gotten one from a lady (Her kids giggling in the background) about getting braces for her Golden, and no, she had to go to an animal dentist, not the place in the mall she got her invisilines... Of course I seem to be a magnet for legitimately wacky callers, so it's always been a little difficult for me to tell if the person is actually a fruitloop or just really good at playing straight.

Over the years I've had a few. The latest one was a guy calling to buy an electric shock collar. He wanted it for his CHILD who was always running across the street. With so many whack jobs out there, this one almost sounded legit. I called the police, but it turned out it was a couple of kids-bet they got grounded for a week!

Funny you ask, we just had one today! (It was receptionist's boyfriend though. Other than that, no, we don't get prank calls - didn't know it was a thing!)

He called up saying his dog had a string hanging out of his butt and what should he do :P

Good thought! I enjoy reading all these, and think they're hilarious. But yeah, if I was working, I would be annoyed and probably rolling my eyes, happy the caller couldn't see me

I remember seeing YouTube video about a guy coming to Corp. store (don't remember which one) asking how much it will be to groom his wife. It was funny. Maybe it was even posted here.

It's most amusing how they laugh at their own jokes and you are just standing there like what.

If the number calls back we just don't answer it, unless one particular coworker is there; these kids drive her up a wall and she will tell them off and call back. I feel like that makes it more fun for them to call us though, because she gets so worked up.

I have gotten so many of the fake IRS calls, and I hate all those calls to get me to upgrade to a new card merchant.

Yesterday we had 2 boys come into the shop, they looked to be about 13 years old or so and the one asked my groomer who was at the front desk if we only did dogs there, no humans and she said that's right and he said "so you can't shave my anus". My groomer stood up and and told him to get the F**K out. I totally started laughing. Cheeky kid.......
