Busy January so Far

First few days always slow but we are having much busier than usual January. Weather is cooperating. Anyone else?

This week starting last Saturday has had me pleasantly surprised. I had a Saturday in my top 10 compared to last year's numbers and I've had a ton of new clients book online for grooming this week. Our weather isn't that good either. I'm happy for the above average money, especially since I didn't have a rush between Christmas and New Year's Eve like I thought. The only down side is the crazy one a year or two cat people have come out and they get very angry that nobody in town will do their cats.

I'm busier this January then I normally am. Alot of new clients both dogs and cats. Which is nice since hubs does Lawncare / snow removal he hasn't worked but one day since Nov 19th :-/

The mobile I work part time is busy for January but the shop I work for part time is slower than a snail, I work Tues Fri and Sat. Some weeks I only work on Sat.

About the same here, for January. Lots of snowbirds won't be back until April or May. No new clients, lost quite a few old ones: passing, moving or to the new groomer in town.
Boarding is down just a bit, again, we've lost quite a few to moving and death or those that have just up and disappeared for no reason.

According to the news reports in the area, population is not growing at all, it is actually quite a bit less than a few years ago. Beautiful area, but it's almost all tourist industry, hardly any manufacturing. Winter is slow, especially this year - not that I mind it, but it has been a mild winter. Not too many snowmobilers or skiers and until just the last week or so, the ice on all the lakes hasn't been frozen enough for fishing. And...we have a lot of older customers that are leaving the area to be closer to their children and better health care.

Very good January but winter storm will slow things, many cancels but it will end and they just rescheduled, so no big deal.

We did excellent January for a January. No complaints and Feb is booking up pretty good.
