On your own dogs what do you do between grooming when you don't have much time? With my Standard Poodle I usually take the HV and blow any dust out of her white coat. Then I scissor a few long hair that might be hanging toward her eyes.... then off to agility practice. Does anybody use any shortcuts when you don't have time for a complete grooming?

LOL!
That's exactly what I do!!!! Right before agility if I've had a rough day, I HV and brush him out. It gives him enough fluffiness and takes the dirt out to make him look like he's had a bath in the past couple days. He doesn't usually go much more than a wk between baths anyway.
To take care of any out of place hairs, I use some nasty shears I have since I don't use the good ones on dirty hair, or I skim with a 10 blade. Then like you said, it's off to agility. I've already gotten 2 customers from my agility class and only started with my poodle 4 wks ago. He has to be clean every time I go.Erin

With 4 Shih Tzus someone always needs feet trimmed, butts trimmed ears and eyes cleaned or whatever. And since my shop is in my home they probably get it more than they need itLast edited by plushpuppy; 01-10-07, 04:04 PM."Whoever Said That Money Can't Buy Happiness Forgot About Puppies"

I usually just touch up the face and feet and brush them out, tends to make them fluffy and look nice. Maybe snip a few hairs if need be. Maybe spritz them with a little cologn. I wish I could bath them more often but I'm only allowed to bring one in a month to my shop and I don't have a good dryer at home.

I usually ignore mine....lol...just kidding! My cocker gets a bath once a week because of his skin but I usually just chunk him under a fan and let him air dry. I figure it is better for his nasty ckr skin that way (it's not because I am lazy...lol) My lab and Boxer get baths when they need it, no grooming schedule needed w/them!SheilaB from SC

Mine just gets a bath and nail grinding once a week. Twice when she is shedding cuz she sheds like crazy and sleeps UNDER the blankets in bed. Then off to agility for her too!!!
She is just a Jack but youd be shocked at how long it takes to brush (zoom groom and card) her to get that hair out. I swear with the amount of hair I get out every week she should be bald but nooooo.

With 3 Lhasa's (2 in full coat) and 1 collie plus a busy life - they really don't get groomed as much as they should. It's more like they're groomed when I look at them and get embarrassed to say I'm a Dog Groomer.I do usually keep the full coated Lhasa's combed out - but sometimes that's all they get. I'm embarrassed to say it, but it's true.

My guys don't get groomed much, they get neglected.... If I have a spot open, then I try to fit one of them in...but Samoyeds are a big time commitment. I did do Reggie this week... but he stunk SOOO bad, I could not stand it... he got into the trash in the garage, and grabbed a bottle of oil which he was chewing on... had black ears, was rolling on the dusty floor, and I think he was rolling in something disgusting in the yard... anyway, with the rain here you could hardly recognize him as a white dog.... so he got a bath and blow out and nail trim Monday... I think I finished him at 10pm... but he smells so much nicer.
Lucky, his sister got combed out, and also nails last night, but did not have the energy to wash her...especially since Boston lega l was on last night!
