  • Buyer Beware: Is Your Pet Safe at the Groomer?

    http://www.wnem.com/story/30412482/dog-groomer-dangers

    GENESEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -
Inside Messy Mutts you’ll find a pampered Lab-Shitzu mix named Lulu, leashes in all colors, shapes and sizes, bandanas to root on your pup’s favorite team, and two women who are self-titled “dog people.”

“I love what I do because I love the animals,” said co-owner Jody Kietzman. But she is quick to point out you won’t find any license to groom your beloved pet. “No there is not. Unfortunately, no. Anyone could open up a groom shop if they wanted to.”

As the I-Team discovered, Michigan doesn’t require any state oversight for pet grooming. That’s right, and no inspections either.

“I have a grooming certificate, and I have taken additional courses. Every other year I take continuing education courses on grooming and safety,” said Kietzman.
Coordinators post updates to the message for grooming events, members contests, PG.com Classified Ads, GroomerTALK Radio shows and PG.com Magazine online.
