Right now I use Best Shot 269 but I'm sure others have ideas, and I'm anxious to hear of another option.

That's a good product. The nice thing is today you don't have to use harsh chemicals, you don't have to use bleach which is not complete anyway. I love using the new green products in my kitchen and bath. whole new world is coming.

Here is one of hundreds of pages you can find on this subject. Here is an advisory for daycares for example from the state govt. Bleach is not all effective.....

Even chlorination of water doesn't kill everything including cryptosporidium.

I heard this before. Drinking water needs to go through a silver based filter to kill that baddie.

OP: I don't think you mean sterilization, I think you are talking about disinfecting. Here's the difference: http://www.diffen.com/difference/Disinfect_vs_Sterilize I too, use a kennel disinfectant like the ones linked above. Used properly, that's all you need.

reminds me of being back in home economics class. Bleach is good, but not complete. We've come a long way baby with new products safer too. I don't even drink tap water. Taking a bath in tap water chlorinated kills the good bacteria in our bodies. Some dogs with sensitive skin have reactions we think is shampoo but it is the chlorine in heavily treated waters.
