Sounds like some one should keep a closer eye on their business!
Ain't always easy to stand up for what is right.

Yes indeed. I have had a few dozen consultations where this has happened. Sometimes when a manager is involved, they manager hires a person who is in cahoots with him or her. I have helped owners get restraining orders for groomers taking the checkbooks and writing checks, oh well, all kinds of things.

I am always amazed when I hear this from business owners. Why in the world would you give an employee – the total stranger – access to all of your valuable information without establishing a set of solid controls. You wouldn't allow someone to come into your home (housekeeper, a repair man) and allow them free access to all of your personal information and valuables. Why in the world would you allow someone to do that with your business – the means of you earning a living?

For me, the people that have always encountered where this is happened are often people who believe that running a business means they can operate short hours for themselves and allow everybody else to do the heavy work. Those of us who know that being a business owner requires twice the amount of work . Those of us who realize this don't have these issues.

I know that if you don't have a list of every pet groomed for how much to make sure each was rung up on the register or something, and balance, you really shouldn't be too surprised if you are short sometimes. The more you accept cash, the more the risk.

Honey, you are right on.......worked for someone like this.......she didn't want to work herself and turned everything over to her bookkeeper friend. It didn't turn out well.
