  • So, nobody kisses dogs?

Regarding a previous post - I just always kiss dogs!!!! I don't know - just a reaction! I don't slobber all over them through the groom - but you know, your working and you get that lick on the hand, or that little wag, I just kiss them. You guys look at it as being wrong? Just wondering.

I kiss dogs!! Why not? I'm like you, I won't slobber all over them but a little kiss on the top of the head is no big deal, especial after a bath they are nice and clean.
I didn't read the post you are talking about I guess. There are a LOT of posts I haven't gotten too. I take a few min. off and there are tons when I get back.

Oh, I'm with you gally22. My fav. part of a dog are its "lippies". The bigger the better. I gotta squish'em and kiss'em. :>

It all depends on the dog. If it's a dog I know well and is completely non agressive I give kisses. But only after we're all done with the grooming

I have to admit, I am a habitual dog kisser. I'd qualify for rehab through my medical insurance but rehab is for quitters and I have no desire to quit.

The idea of the previous post was that kissing the dogs gave a different message than affection - almost an aggressive message to the dogs, especially dominant ones? I do not kiss all of them, but, 99% would be my guess! Also, I have to say that I have a relationship with most of my customers, this one happened to be a new dog that gave me a problem. You live and learn, and I value the knowledge that I get from this board.

                  Only my own

I kiss my dogs NON stop.....lol, but I don't kiss dogs I groom. I've just always been told NOT to put your face in their face. BUT, I have dogs that kiss me all the time, the one Newf I do, I don't put her on the groomer's helper, and she is always tongue bathing my face.......lol, and when I get a kiss from a dog on my table or in my arms, I give them a nice rub and tell them "nice kisses"

                      Smooching Pooches

I have been kissing animals on the tops of their heads since I was a little kid. I know now that its not the wisest thing to do, but I do kiss them on top of the head after the groom. I like to tell them how good they were and give them a peck on top of the head. I never kiss them on the lips or let them lick me, that is just gross.

I only give a kiss on the head.

I stopped kissing dogs after one almost bit my face off. No warning at all, and she had always been a sweet lovable dog..giving me kisses now and then.
If a dog jumps all over me and kisses me, I will talk to it and pet it etc, but I just dont get my face in theirs anymore.

What no kisses??? Well I don't know a groomer who doesn't give at least the occasional kiss. To me, it just goes with the job. And like previously stated is a definite perk!

Of course, I always kiss, I also look the dog in the eyes many times.
It just sort of connects me to them. Sometimes we forget as we are so busy trying to get them done timely to love on them.
