  • "God bless her hands!"

This morning I went to take a bichon/maltese mix in and the owner was...shall we say clingy? She spent a few minutes kissing the dog on the lips (while I made "save me!" eyes at the receptionist lol) before I could take the dog back. A few minutes later the receptionist brought the file back for me and told me the owner was up front crying about leaving the dog there...Oh boy. lol

I ended up doing a #5 all over with a bichon head. Now I'm wishing I took pics, I didn't because I accidently cut the hair in front of the ears so it didn't look as bichon-ey as I'd like. Anyways, I put some cute purple bows in, and put the dog away. When the owner came to pick the dog up my coworker brought her to the front because he wanted to see her reaction after hearing how she was earlier. He came back and said "The owner of the bichon was SO happy and said 'GOD BLESS HER HANDS!'" I laughed it off and later asked the receptionist how the owner reacted, because I thought he was being a smart a-- and the receptionist said "she was so happy she started crying again!"

That made me feel good, especially since I was beating myself up for not having the perfect bichon head. haha

Well that had to make your day, especially after all the drama of a clingy owner. I hope your hands are always blessed and that you only make people cry with happiness.

Good Job. It's nice when they are happy.

Oh boy, those clingy owners get to me sometimes, lol. I'm always rolling my eyes at the camera for the benefit of the girls in the back!

At least it ended well! Those people are always a little weird though. My worst was actually a man, kissing and hugging the dog, refusing to leave it. Even the dog looked embarassed!!

What do these people do when they have to go to work??? I guess they take their dog in the shower with them too cauz that would be like 3 feet of seperation.

Maggy, I love that story. It gave me the warm fuzzies.

I love the people that repeatedly tell their dog they'll be right back as they kiss and hug them good-bye.

I call them appendage pets because the people act like you're taking their arm off lol. I have one in particular who drives me crazy.....I agree with chicken who said even the dog looked embarrassed, this dog is a wreck until the owner leaves, then he's like "thank God she's gone, now we can relax"!!

Eeek...really? Those people drive me up the walls because it generally makes the dog more nervous!

I've never heard anyone bless someone' s hands before. It must have made you feel so good to hear that she was so happy. I like when people fuss over their dogs. Makes me feel like they are nice people (even if they aren't, and yes, I know, some are a littel crazy).
don't find yourself up a creek without a poodle.

No, I was being sarcastic. They drive me nuts, too. In my head I'm saying "the dog doesn't understand you. will you just leave already?!?"

The "bless her hands" part may have been my coworker's ad libbing, like I said, I didn't even believe him at first because he kids around like that a lot. haha

Lol! I like the ones that say they love them, and seem reluctant to leave, but then do so. Then there's those that take it a bit too far, getting weepy and such.

I had one like that today, I had a couple minutes left on a cat when the father came. He stayed to watch, and at first was chatting with me, and then began meowing to his cat!!!!!!!!! He'd say, "Good boy, Sam. Meooww" I almost dropped my clippers when I first heard it. He had to have meowed 20 X. I had to bite my tongue from laughing at him.

Glad you had such a great experience though with your dog. I love when you're not feeling 100% about a groom, but the owner comes in and dispells any misgivings.

Erin, that is too funny!! Your tongue must be dripping blood!!! I think I would've totally lost it! At least we know these pets are cherished!

Gee, you mean you don't meow to the cats?

Seriously, I chirp, purr, meow to the cats all the time. During the whole groom. I think it makes them more relaxed.
