  • update on tendonitis

I went to my family doc yesterday to discuss my elbow which is hurting now from overuse. She put me on a short term dose of anti-inflammatories but after reading the phamplet the pharmacy gave me on the side effects I am not sure I want to take them although I have taken them in the past with no side effects. After her exam she discovered my elbow is getting loose and crackling from all the stress I have put on it. She said that is not good. I discussed the usage of cortisone injections and she said no more than 3 a year into the joint. So my mistake when I had stated 3 into the joint in a lifetime. She was very understanding when I stated that I need to work. I do forsee elbow surgery in my future at some point but for now I will do all I can to keep that from happening. Unless you are a groomer yourself most people do not understand the beating our bodies take on a daily basis. Out of the 10 or 12 groomers in my area only 2 of them are over 50 years old.My husband tells me I should just find another job. I can't imagine my life without grooming and besides I am bringing in almost as much as he is in dollars so kind of hard to turn that down. How marketable am I really at age 50 with other skills but I haven't utilized them in probably 15 years. Thanks for listening.

if you ever had to stop, could you at least teach? no need to leave the field! i bet you would have a lot to offer. or, go around to clinics/kennels who want to bring a groomer in. educate them, help them get what they need and even train for them...just some thoughts.

Dont take any drugs. Get to a hand surgeon NOW. I love my hand sugeon. He has done wonders for me. Surgery might be avoided but you need the proper doctor. You need a specialist who can guide you to therapy that might help you heal and be stronger to perform the daily tasks we do every day.

In our new house, we'll have a jetted tub. That thing is going to get "all used up!" I ache in my and forearm. My balances my clipper with the clipper vacuum. I never had any problems with fatigue until the last place I worked. I think I stress myself out and that doesn't hurt. I think we are not always doing things properly and that is part of the problem.

Ok, and a bigger problem? I sit and type for a couple of hours here each night---that so does not help! lol

LOl im only 21 yrs old...already have 1 knee problem...i cannot ride a bicycle because its too uncomfortable to do so! the knee (the bones in it i should say) kind of grind against each other when they are going into that bicycleing motion...yes its a gross feeling. there are times it feels like its going to dislocate out of the joint...and teh thing is i have NO IDEA what caused this! if you dont already groom sitting down...DO IT NOW! im not a groomer but i plan on when i start getting a chair (i cannot stand for excessive amounts of time without something starting to hurt...if im bending over my back starts hurting too! add that to feet hurting and back hurting and its an uncomfortable situation!), a grooming mask (hey I dont want to have all that hair in MY lungs! LOL!), and as many advanced tools as i can (ie clipper vac, bathing system etc when i open my own grooming salon). i can tell already that my body is just going to get worse...so i have to take care of it while i can or else i wont be of any use to anybody LOL!
id get your elbow looked at as soon as possible and not let it go any longer...

As weird as it sounds, try rock climbing or swing or social ballroom dancing. I have the same knee problems and from rock climbing, my knees and legs got stronger that biking doesn't bother them anymore. The dancing is great too.
