  • Aaaaiiighhhhhhhh! Im Maimed!!!!

I was working on cocker this morning, just trimming up the foot and he kicked, now I still havent figgured out just what the H-E double hockey sticks happened because I dident even feel it for a good 5-6 seconds, & dident realize untill I moved my hand and saw it,, almost half the nail on my ring finger has literaly been S-l-i-c-e-d OFF..
& I dont mean I riped the end off my nail of eather...
The blade of the shears must have caught just below the cutical, cut right through my nail, down to the nail bed and then sliced it clean Of all the way to the end of my nail.. & It hurts like a *&$%£!!!!! (insert very bad words here...)

However my Kamisori shears are non the worse for wear and seem to be cutting just bloody bleeping fine ......which for some reason I find exstreamly anoying...
(Hubbys a bit freaked though... )

Oh man do I feel for ya! I'm so glad today is my day off, after reading that I'm not sure if I could groom today.
And as far as a name for the sheltie, how about Laddy? I know not very original but I have a sheltie that I groom named Laddy and it is so fitting for him.

I know how you feel. last week I all but cut off the tip of my finger. It got cought between the blades of my new shears. Needless to say, I put the new sharp ones away and use the old dull ones lol.

Ouch, you poor thing. Makes me cringe too. Hopefully you will feel better soon. Love them cockers.

As for a name for the Sheltie, I have one that I groom named "Kash". The owners say he was expensive so that is his name.
I also groom a dog named "Please" the owners wanted to sound polite when giving the dog commands. -Please sit, Please stay,

Oh man i hate when they do that back kick. It just askes for trouble with our sharp tools. Feel better soon. You might want a doc to look at it.

Ouch!! That just brought back bad memories of when I ripped off my finger nail on my screen door last year... caught a jagged edge. Make sure they use non-stick gauze if you end up at the hospital!!... Getting the regular gauze off hurt WAY more than the nail coming off

                          Poor thing

I can't even imagine how that hurts. I do slice myself every once in a while but not like that and sorry to say but I'd rather slice myself anyday than slice the dog. I wonder if that is going to be the kind of thing where the nail has to grow out slowly, bet it will. Might see if there is something you can put on for protecting in the meanwhile.
Money will buy you a pretty good dog but it won't buy the wag of it's tail.

Those "cow kicks" can be brutal. I feel nauseous just thinking about that happening...and its probably going to hurt for many a day (sorry!). What a bad day.

                              Dont look if your squeemmish....

Ive been keeping it taped tight, finnaly stopped bleeding.
Theres really nothing a doctor could do, & knowing the hospitals here id probably just get a infection if I did go to the A&E.
It was an English cocker & he wasent really being bad, just bad timing.
& I found out that getting "ANY" water on it, no mater what temp...HURTS LIKE HE!!
Im hoping the nail grows back but its definatly going to take a while..
                              this is what it did....
