  • Advice on a grooming house

What kinds of things would you need or want know about getting an old house or a place where a couple of groomer would be able to come in and set up their own tables and have their own customers? I think it was said not too long ago but I was wondering why it can't be done?
It would be like a hair salon wouldn't it? I'd like to hear your thoughts on it.

Here in our town there are several old houses that are foreclosers and they are asking only like $16,000-$20,000!! I was thinking about all that would be involved in it good or bad???!!??

I too, have thought about doing this. I never really knew how to get it started. There are a lot of groomers who can't afford to start their own business, but want some say so in their clients. I think it's an excellent idea.

I have been grooming for 30 yrs + and wonder what I will do in the future when I can no longer do as many dogs or large, unrulely dogs.

Any feed back would be great. Renting a chair.

      zoning

If these are zoned residental you will have seek rezoning for commercial use. It could be possible to impossible. Could be a long process. Better to look at something that is already zoned commercial or right next door. Be sure you do it right because if not you could be hit with fines and forced closer so will also loose any investment in the business as far as remodeling, wiring, plumbing and such like. Best of luck.

I say it's a great idea and have seen it done! The only thing I see stopping you is zoning laws.Check into that and speak to someone who works at the city town office/business license dept.for more info.in your area. You could also look at a split level home that you or someone elce used as living space and do boarding for the late pick/up's ect.Good luck and keep us posted as to what you decide to do.
