We have unexpected litter of frenhies due any day.Last Feb.my cream frenchie came in heat but with my mobile business being new I just don't have the time for a litter.I kept them apart I thought long enough!But I wasn't worried because my male isn't a natural breeder(so I thought) I wasn't planning on breeding them so I didn't write the date down but it was the last part of Feb .Wen I took her to the vet they sent off a blood test. The Dr.called me this morning it was postive I thought she was having a false preg.This will be her first and last litter she will be spayed during her c section I looove this dog!
well long nights a head for me not knowing the date I can't chance her going in to labor while I'm sleeping.Most frenchies aren't natural whelpers and I'm not taking that chance with her.I'll be able to catch up on reading some posts.Looks like Starbucks double shots are going to be my best friend next week!!!

Oh my goodness, you should have sent her to Planned Parenthood....lol.. I am sure that everything will be just fine, she obviously has a doting parent to help her when her time comes. Post picts of the babies!!! BTW, don't drink so much caffeine that you have the shakes when you have to handle the babies....lol

I'm an idiot! This whole time I never looked very closely at your avatar and thought it was a RABBIT! When I saw the word "frenchie" in your post, I looked at your avatar and ... Lo' and behold, a french bulldog, LOL.

I think these guys are darling. We have one that comes into our animal hospital a lot, I recently found out it was due to a problem with its cornea, and last week they just had its eye removed. The owner was in tears, telling him, "You're still handsome baby," I thought it was kind of sad, but funny too, since he didn't really know if he was handsome or not, lol.

A simple series of progesterone tests may help you limit your sleepless nights. Just as you can use them to time when to breed your bitch, you can use them to determine when she is ready for a c-section, without the risk of her entering into labor. Her progesterone will be elevated through the end of her pregnancy, but it will drop below 2.0 when she is preparing to go into labor. As she starts acting like she is totally miserable and thinking about going into labor, run a progesterone test. If it is high, she is still early. If it is low, time to call the vet!

When labor is near their normal temperature drops.

I talk to our vet about the progesterone test.She said there not always reliable as she would like.She's going in Monday for an check up and the vet wants to do an exray to see how many pupppies she's going to have.

That picture was took at a strange angle made her ears look twice as large as they really are.They both are well bred and it should be a very nice litter.I hope to finish my male dog next fall when my business is more established.Then I can takes aome weekends off.

Yes, the accuracy of the progesterone test depends on the quality of the vet's equipment or the availability of a lab. The simple in clinic kits that give a result quickly and in the form of a color dot for certain ranges are not very accurate, however the progesterone tests that give actual numbers are extremely accurate and from what I have heard from specialists, the progesterone level always drops before labor.

The temperature thing can be accurate and I would certainly consider taking it. But, it isn't near as accurate. Several of my girls have shown no change in temperature before starting labor. I did have one girl that would spike a fever rather than have a temperature drop before she went into labor--at least it was a change! She had three litters and sure enough, each time she would spike a fever before labor.

Do you have a breeder friend who could take care of them for you?

We may end up with accidental english cocker/english lab puppies at the kennel where I work. The owner of the cocker is off doing shows and she didn't mention that the gal was in season. She escaped with the lab that we let run loose and they were lost for about an hour...oopsie. Hopefully she wasn't quite ready for breeding that day.

hi I took her in this morning were unable to see the puppies yet so see's around 45 days she's huge I can't imagine what she'll look like when she's ready to deliver.

To add to my other post, we may end up with english cocker/ lab/ irish setter puppies. The cocker took off again with the same owner's setter in hot pursuit. The person who let them out this morning didn't know the cocker was in season. That cocker's quite the little vixen.
