  • A cute story about a cocker named Tinker

Long ago, in a grooming shop far far away,

A few years back I was at work at a grooming shop in the early evening, getting ready to leave. A girl from the hair salon next door comes in and says, " Are you missing a Cocker Spaniel?" I said "No, Why?" she told me there was one sitting right outside the door. So I go to look outside and sure enough there's one mangy looking cocker sitting right outside the door staring at me and wagging his tail. I opened the door and said what are you doing out here and he walked in. I said "whats the matter Buddy are u lost ?"and he starts wagging his tail at me and whining. Taking a closer look at him I could see that he was covered and I mean covered in fleas. I said to him ,"Did you come here for a bath?" and he got all excited, wagging his tail and jumping around. So what's a groomer to do. I gave the poor dog 3 baths. Then as I was looking at him I said, " Is that u Tinker?" and he went ballistic. Turns out, this was a dog that I used to groom but when the owners husband died she got rid of the dog, so I hadn't seen him in a long time. I found her old grooming card and gave her a call and she explained this to me. Turns out he lived with new owners about 5 miles away from the shop. When I took him home they said he went missing the day before and they looked everywhere for him. I told them he came to see me because he was miserably infested with fleas, so they had better take better care of him! This is a true story. Some animals are so amazing!

That is amazing, and great that you recognized him! So good to hear a nice story about a cocker! My 3 cocker kids are wagging their tails because now people will know that they're not all dumb and neurotic!! Thanks for sharing.
Old groomers never die, they just go at a slower clip.

          Groom on!!!

That was kinda sad. He was so desperate for a bath after being gone for only a day....I think I would have offered them a huge discount if they brought him in on a regular basis, or even offered them a spot on treatment. I can't believe you recognised him. Good for you for being so kind and giving him a bath

                      Tinker

I'm glad you all liked this story. I don't know whatever happened to Tinker. I moved to Fl and this was in NJ. I can tell you though, that I will always remember him.
