  • Poster Child for Canine ADD....lol

This is Zoro and he is your typical SCW. Translation:He drives his groomer insane...lol

Seriously, does anyone have a SCW that is well behaved or are they all barmy on the table? It took me over an hour to do his finish cut and I am still not happy w/it. I had to do quite a bit of dematting on his legs and he was about 2 wks overdue, so I guess w/all things considered he didn't come out too badly.

BTW His owner asked me when he would calm down (he is 2 yrs). I told her about 20 minutes after his heart stops beating....lol....she thought that was pretty funny!! She will find out how true it is...hehe

Cute groom! I've groomed one, one!!! super nice, sweet STILL wheaton. I loved her, she was such a nice dog. And the owner brushed!!! Never a matt anywhere. I must be the luckiest groomer in the world. I left that job and don't see her anymore.

I have a broad spectrum of SCWT, some are like statues on the table, couldn't ask for better, some are like standing on hot coals, but I love em all!

P.s. 10 blade those ears, he looks cute!

I do one that shakes so hard he falls down. And two that are as good as gold. Which is fortunate, because they like to play in the giggly weeds, and they're always a mess.

Hehe, I actually still had to scissor the ends of the ears, but I needed a breather so I snapped the picts to give us both a break then finished snipping the scraggles. Good eye!!

I have 2 that I do - both older dogs and their great - owners keep them on schedule and brush in between. I've been lucky with this breed - never really had a nutty one, although I know plenty of groomers who have and dread them walking through the door. I actually like the breed - their good-hearted dogs. They get hyper if they don't have anything to do that keeps them interested.

I've done 2 and they were both nut cases. I'm sure there are good ones around here, but I haven't met them yet.

I have 3 I do that I love. They are bundles of energy, but moderately good on the table. As long as NO ONE walks into the shop while I'm grooming them. If they do...no point in even trying to touch them for 10 minutes! They're all wiggles and smiles and licking, nuts. But at least friendly.

I only have one that I groom on a regular basis. She is getting better... LOL!!

But, I have a Wheaton/Cocker mix that is a nightmare to groom. He's about due, and I'm already dreading it. He's a sweet dog, but he's wild. Extremely wild.

                    SCW's

I have been grooming for about 25 years. I remember way back about 20 years ago, I had a calm SCW. When I 1st started grooming I thought they were so adorable, I even considered getting one. Now, I still think they are nice looking dogs. And most of them are very friendly. I just prefer to see them in someone else's yard and on someone else's grooming table!!

I groomed one today, he dances around alot but is mostly good.
The owner does not like a fall so he looks kind of dorky with a shih-tzu style forehead.

Tails, I wish his owners would let me give him a fall. He is such a handsome boy! I had to fight to be able to shave his ears! One day....lol

Ejmj, I know what you mean. That was why I said ADD. He would just start to calm down and there would be a noise, or the phone would ring, or a reflection on the wall and he would go bananna's!! WHATS THAT, GOTTA SEE IT...lol I made my bather hide while I was finishing him because her cleaning up was making him (and me!) psychotic...hehe

I have never groomed one. I have worked in two different shops and they each had one come in but I never groomed them. Can't remember back that long as to how they behaved.

                          Nice groom.

                            SCW

Did three in one week. First two pooped and peed on the table while wiggling :}Waited till after bath and stepped in it of course :} Third spent most of grooming trying to jump off table even with GH attached. Have one more I do regularly, he's a gem, older, calm and affectionate without licking your whole face off.

                              Wheaten Clients

I've got 4 regular Wheaten clients. 2 of them are brothers and come in once per month; never brushed between grooms. The 2 yr old behaves better than the 4 yr old. Good thing, too, since the 2 yr old has a beautiful, thick coat; can definitely tell the good breeding behind him. The 4 yr old is better than the ones we got in grooming school to work on. <LOL> Finally talked the owner into wheaten cuts on them to maintain. Then her neighbor brought his wheaton in stating he wanted his groomed the same way...well, I had to shave it naked. It was matted to skin. But now he brushes her out and low and behold! She got a wheaton clip last time and was okay on the table...she's a little flaky/spooky; likes to act like a sled dog by pulling on the lead. 4th Wheaton is a sweetie; owner likes her all fluffy with a head like an old english sheepdog. He's fairly good at brushing her, but I hate the cut on her. What can you do except give the customer what they want since they pay for it.

The ones we worked on in grooming school were crazy...probably the dogs that were fired by full-time groomers. Always matted and trying to bite or dance their way off the table. Have to admit, when I finished grooming school, I did not have a high opinion of Wheatens. The same for Bichons. But once I got out on my own, I discovered that there are good Bichons.
