  • Re-introductions!!

Hey all... it's been almost 9 months since I've been active on here... I have stopped in from time to time to find the answer to a question via search...but have just been so crazy busy! So just wanted to say hey again and update and what's been going on...

I found out last Sept 30 (my birthday!) that I was pregnant... so now I'm in my 7th month. It is starting to get harder each to day to continue to groom but I'm going to hold out for as long as possible!

I've been doing volunteer work but that has tapered off with my third trimester. Thanks to the help from some of you on here I was able to outfit to do semi-mobile grooming (set up in foster's home) and have been helping with some of the foster owners to keep dogs spruced up and with my photography background, help to get some awesome photos up to petfinder to help pups get adopted!

My townhome has been tenant-less so my husband and I (mostly my husband) have been trying to market and get it rented... Ouch on the $$ until then!

Trying to get nursery together... My best friend keeps hounding me since I've almost dropped off the face of the earth the last few months... Putting in a full day of grooming (10 dogs average) makes any time off "down" time....with lots of rest and lounging. I don't know how people groom so late into pregnancy.. My ribs are so sore... but I am short waisted so baby boy has nowhere to go!! I'm enduring...but definitely am thinking of going part-time.

So just wanted to say hey... now that I've gotten some downtime back.. I'll be bouncing in here a little bit more often!

OH Congrats! My little one just turned a year old last Thurday. Let me tell you, I groomed (ten hour days) right up until the doctor put me out of work for exhaustion. If you can get away with NOT doing that, I highly recommend it! Take it easy on yourself! I'm short-waisted as well, so she hung out right under my ribs when she wasn't playing kickball with my bladder.

Take care of yourself and enjoy this special time. It will be gone soon, and you'll be like me, wondering where that year went!

I wish I financially had the option to NOT work! I'm the primary breadwinner in our double income household... I cashed out a 401k in prep for the time off... my insurance will stay intact with 6 weeks (longer if I c-section) so I hope to use most of the 6 weeks post birth... rather than taking any time before. But as I feel my body wind down (painfully!) each day I realize I may have to take time prior after all... I wish work took it easy on me. They consider the inability to take in unlimited customer's an inconvenience to them... *sigh*... but other positive things about it make it worth it (and no one else seems to be hiring groomers in the area other than corporate).

I'm thankful that just bruised feelings in my ribs and hips is all I feel right now... bearable but definitely worsening.
