Well, I've had a torn rotator cuff. The signs are pain deep in the shoulder, especially when you rotate your arm. Or I should say when you try to rotate your arm, because it doesn't rotate too far. I had a definate reduced range of motion. I also had pain if I tried to push on something with that arm, like opening a door, or especially pushing down on anything.
I didn't do it grooming, though. But I'm sure the grooming didn't help matters any, either.

I to had a shoulder problem early in my career. So bad it nearly ended it. A combination of chiropractic and myofacial message brought it back from constant pain to going full bore during christmas with NO problems. Feel free to PM me if you want more details because I would love to help you get to that point to.

I have had shoulder problems the last 5-6 years. So bad once that my Dr thought I might have torn the rotator cuff and sent me for an MRI. Well I hadn't torn it, but had the tendons and bursa so inflamed that it I didn't get it under control, I would be in very soon with it torn. He put me on antiinflamitories and sent me to a physical therapist. I took the drugs for about 2 weeks and saw the therapist for about 3 months and was back to feeling normal. The problem is, I get to feeling normal and in time, I quit doing the shouldre exercises to keep it strengthened and stretched out and end up back in pain again. At least now, I know how to correct it myself if I get with the program at the first sign of inflamation rather than pushing on and postoning things. (I also now see a massage therapist monthly which helps too)
