  • Bulldog Kissing Booth at APF

Wasn't that so cute? I'm in contact with the rescue about adopting the sweet little girl. I fell in love!
Bulldogs are adorable, with faces like toads that have been sat on.

I wasn't there. Did they actually have a Bull Dog kissing booth? As in people actually kissing a strange dog on the face?

      I'm speachless.

          Such a killjoy...

Sounds adorable - as long as its someone else doing the kissing. Don't get me wrong; I LOVE bulldogs and if it werent for the inherent health issues associated with the breed, Id probably have one of my own.

But - I dont kissy face strange dogs. I've been in the critter biz long enough to know that human faces in proximity to sharp teeeth are a baaaad combination.

However, I hope they made a boatload of money for the rescue. I wonder if they had to take out any special insurance or if the "kissees" were required to sign a waiver or something....

It does sound cute but I would really think twice before I kissed a strange dog. Pretty good way to loose a pair of lips (or a nose). They must have been VERY secure w/this dogs tolerance to having his space invaded (again and agin) by strangers.

These bulldogs were delightful. They seemed to really enjoy all the attention. I didn't kiss them but pet them everytime I went by. The male dog "Chipper" was a real ham. He'd get out on the floor and roll around and look like he was just begging for some belly rubs and he got plenty. These 2 bulldogs were obviously very social and very special. I'd be real surprised if someone didn't offer to adopt these 2 cuties. Anyway I enjoyed seeing them and they collectected money for their rescue from the kissing booth. I hope they're there again next year.

I was judging at an all breed AKC santioned match and did the non-sporting puppy and Adult group.

I had a really good entry with Bulldogs. All's I wanted to do was kiss those faces on the puppies. Those buggers are just so damn cute. Didn't succumb to the temptation, decorum prevailed.

I'm sure it was really cute. But it was also really risky. REALLY risky. I've seen far too many dog bites, and recieved a few myself, including a bite in the face.

Seriously, even trustworthy dogs can decide they've had enough. Dogs you'd swear would never bite can take an instant dislike to someone for no obvious reason. I've seen it happen.

As my student/intern said when she did her first term evaluation; asked what she'd learned, the first thing that popped out of her mouth was "Any dog can bite."

Yeah, that's what everyone says, right up until they're prying someone's face out of their dogs mouth.

Trust me, any dog can bite. My Bull Terrier was the most trustworthy dog I've ever met. She was a big mushie. And one day, for no reason I've ever been able to fathom, she went for a woman at a dog show. I already had her on a short leash, or that poor woman would have been needing some stitches.

It can happen. ANY dog can bite. Any dog WILL bite, given the right circumstances. And they were taking a huge risk by allowing this to go on.

I never thought my William would go after anyone till he went after Julia's dad. True he was being protective of Preston (Julia's baby), but if I hadn't been there I believe that Julia's dad would have had a nasty bite or two. There is also one client of mine that brings his dog in every 2 weeks that Will doesn't like on and would rush the gate w/hackles up. Even though he is behind the security gate I still crate him before Ruggles arrives.

The first vet that I worked for in H.S. once told me an invaluable lesson...........if it has teeth, it can bite!

Not trying to be a killjoy. I am very glad that they made money for the rescue. I just hope that other rescues don't look at how well this one did and copy the idea w/not so good results.
