  • What are the chances?

    I have a question.

What are the chances that a someone would hire a temporary bather or groomer or kennel attendant?

    Zero! Nada! Zilch!

If you don't apply for the job.

Great if there is a temporary need to fill. Like......
    New mom on maternity leave.
    Someone taking a long vacation.
A leave of absence due to unforseen circumstances.
    etc...

    Go for it!!

I'd hire such a person for the busy periods. Sounds perfect for spring, summer, & holidays.

If someone was great I would find a way to add them to the staff. We always hire for the summer and can use an extra (capable) hand over Thanksgiving, Xmass, Feb and April public school vac. and the March private school vacation. So I think you probably have a good chance finding a spot. I am fine with people who are honest up front and then I see if we can make it work!

I think there is a good chance of getting a temporary job. I have hired temps in the past for the summer and holiday months to help in the kennel and to be a general go-between person. These are usually students who are looking for a little extra $$$ but don't want or need full-time employment. Go for it, you have nothing to loose by asking!

Oh Hey Thanks for the answers guys!
Sorry I havent been around to answer back! Busy packing and getting the house ready to turn back over to rental agency. I only have about 12 days left where I am, Then off to Moms for 6 weeks where I do have a dog training client waiting for me. I asked because I know I have definate 6 weeks ( and I could really use a bit of pocket cash for the move) but there is a possiability i might get stuck in the States until September when the Heat embargo gets lifted ( this I do not know yet and will not find out until a day or 2 before I fly.

Technichally I am only supposed to stay with Mom no more then 4 weeks but I figured If I get stuck longer and I have a job then the "park" might now say anything to MOms about having a guest all summer long ( damm those senior citizen leasure living parks!)
Of course If I find something Iwill keep ya posted.

Good luck! I say go for it! It's not like they would have to hire and then train you, which can take a long time. You already have experience, right? Especially if they are busy, it might be nice to have someone pick up a little slack.

No they would not have to train me.

The big problem is the area I am headed to is a snow bird area and By that time most of them will be away for the summer. So we will see what goes on.

hmm, well even so, within a week you should have the ropes down. You might still need help, but it would give you a good start. I say go for it. What do you have to lose?

It never hurts to try and if you don't try you won't know. Go for it.

I worked in a groom shop at a kennel for three months while I was waiting for my van to be finished. The owner knew from the get-go that I would only be working for a few months.
