  • rodeo/saddle stools

For those you who sit while grooming, I just got a stool I ordered and it is really good quality, metal legs! My other rodeo stool had plastic legs I had to replace twice. Anyway, I got it from www.salonshowroom.com and they have 35 different colors at no extra charge. They also have all different kinds of stools, not just the rodeo stool. Just thought I would share!

Saddle stool? Thats first I've ever heard of it... Is it comfy? My back gets sore and I like having a back rest(I have deluxe stool from pet edge) mine has lasted great other than little wear on seat.

          I wouldn't use anything else!

A rodeo stool sets your pelvis upright, rather than sitting back on your tail bone. (for lack of a better comparison). This gives you full range of motion for the upper body. My chiropractor loved this. Said it was way better then sitting in a chair that you can "lean back in". Ive used on for years. Yes you do have to mount the darn thing like a saddle but once you get the hang of it, man, you will not have a sore achey back, as long as you remember to keep you arms down in a natural position. I tend to see groomers that "sit" try to do a dog that is too tall, that just makes for stiff shoulders later.

The shop I used to work at had one that no one ever used. I always would grab it (Before I was grooming, just a bather) to file cards or do whatever sitting down. I loved it and after I left and started grooming I asked if I could buy it from her. lol. She said no, so I am on the search. For the past year I have been using a regular chair and I miss that thing SO much. Its saddle shape makes it so lovely to sit on. I find that there are a lot of cheapies out there, but you need to get one that is thick and kind of bubbly shaped like this one. http://www.salonshowroom.com/Pibbs_7...at_p/70208.htm

I absolutely loved it. The one above I think I will be purchasing. Just hoping the original poster is still on here and can let me know if she still thinks its a quality stool. Looks great.

              Brewer Company

I have been looking at saddle seat stools made by Brewer Company. They market to dental professionals. The one I'm interested in is the DynaCore 9400 Series. It is pricy but I figure anything that can keep me working more years is a good investment. I am thinking I will use it when drying and stand to groom. The website is brewercompany.com

These can be great for your body, but fit to your size. Have you seen the rocking stool, very cool. Its on a half ball and rocks right and left with your body so it is more like a partial support propping you up so you are half standing half sitting. Expensive and hard to find.

Groomers Choice has them on sale.....with or without backs.
Ain't always easy to stand up for what is right.

Well I bought one and now, about a month later, it won't stay up. I just emailed the company tonight about getting a new one. They don't have a phone number on their website so I am praying that they email me back or I'm out $170.00 + shipping.

I'm hoping it's a fluke. It was a really nice stool.
