Coloring thread/forum?

I apologize if I posted this in the wrong forum, but I don't know where coloring dogs is covered on this board. I looked under 'Techniques' but it wasn't there.

Can anyone point me to a good thread that details how to color dogs? I tried to color my cocker's mohawk the other day and it didn't take at all. I have done a little color on one other dog, and it did take, but there is room for improvement. I am new to this whole coloring thing and really need to know the proper technique.
