Anyone else busy. The last two Saturdays booked solid even had to call in recruits. This week looks like its going to be busy also. Its great but I’m not sure I’m ready to be this busy. I like taking my time grooming and poking around. Just wondering how everyone else is doing.

I'm crazy busy, but I'm in Florida and all the snowbirds are back (thankfully!) Record week 2 weeks ago and last week made in 4 days what I usually do in 5. Grooming 10 - 15 a day, appointment only, try to get them in and out in an hour to 1.25 hours (except st. poodles.) Do most of my own baths, but have a bather that is a high school student and comes in a few hours a few days a week and actually does an amazing job & listens/does things my way.

      Slammed

I just got my trailer graphics. In the last two weeks I have picked up 20 new customers. Business has been great. Keep up the good work.

I've been super busy myself! I'm booking for week after next, with room for a few squeeze in's bath or bath/tidy's here and there before then.

I'm hoping that by spring I'll be busy enough to hire an assistant full time.

<bites nails> fearing Spring here. If the slooooowwwww Winter months have been as busy as they have, Spring is going to be a nightmare! Looking forward to this nightmare, lol. And all in a down economy people! And to think 20 years ago I was embarrassed to say I groomed dogs for a living! Now I am as proud as can be that I am so busy!

Well it just goes to show you that small business is what is going to rebuild this country. I guess Hows everyones spouse doing are they getting busy at work also. My husband owns an autobody shop and his business is picking up also. I really hope that this means the economy is coming back.

                Never slowed after the holidays

Thought we would slow after the holidays but stayed steady. Was only my second holiday season open and was waiting for the break but never came other than one Monday that poured rain and only had two dogs so we closed and went to a well deserved movie.
We have been booked out a week since the first of the year.

Super busy here too considering it has been a non stop SNOWICANE for 3 months. The books say business has increased 4 fold compared to last winter and I have done no advertising. I have been open for about 2 years in a rural area, so I am still in the client building phase.

I'm not slammed by any means BUT I also just moved the salon to a new location and am behind on my advertising with all the other things going on.
I am busy though; usually 4 or 5 dogs a day and I'd top out at 6 or 7

We're busier too this year, but part of that is the local vet closed their doors, taking the groomer (who has since been fired and replaced) with them to their other location. However, I think we only picked up 5-6 new clients because most of their former clients will not book ahead. And they did a lot of big hairies, we try to discourage them, they're only groomed once a year and we don't make any money on those grooms. They want to get in immediately and we can't offer that service. They have to drive 20+ miles if they want to have their dog groomed within a week. We're booked out until the middle of April and I'm doing 8-10 dogs a day, 3-4 days/week, 11 hours/day. Last year I was doing about 6 dogs a day. We raised prices just a little in January. I still can't justify another groomer, I have to get better and faster with new and more efficient equipment. I only work those hours because I have another part-time job and I don't think the poor old body could handle 5+ days a week grooming.

The phone won't stop ringing! I almost dread answering it because I can't get people in when they want to get in. My daytime groomer was away last week so this week she's been really busy. She could only work a half day today so did 3 (we're mobile remember) and tomorrow she has 5, have more wanting in with me that I just can't accomodate. I only do evenings and Sundays but last week had to cancel two nights because of snow. So I worked Saturday and Sunday. I usually do 3 MAYBE 4 on a Sunday and last Sunday I did 6 and this Sunday I have 6 scheduled. I hate doing that many in a day. In the mobile I don't feel I have the freedom to take breaks like I would in a salon, and when I have 4 at one house, it's just go-go-go. I don't have an opening for myself until March 14 right now and people are very disappointed. I've been encouraging them to book with my daytime groomer but many are reluctant. I am considering going full time once my new rig is done. Well, not full time, full time, but doing some days and some nights. My husband really wants to quit his job and I think my business is at the point where I could support us totally if I worked some days too. My groomer is only part time so I would book around her schedule of course. I don't want to do full time, but I can't stand seeing my husband so miserable either. At least I'd be doing something I enjoy. But working nights I would not see my daughter much those days.

                            Me too!

I've really picked up here, I had slowed down but only because of the snow we had. Now that the weather seems to have broke the phone hasn't stopped ringing. Yeah since hubby is still laid off we can use the money. Oh well no looking a gift dog in the mouth.
