  • Help with a face

So this little mix came in for her first groom with me. Her body was just a 4f and the customer said to do what I wanted with the face. I did it round and followed the lines on the pup but she looked like a monkey when I was through with her.

    Any suggestions?

    A good monkey?

Was there supposed to be a photo? If it was cute, then it was fine. Lots of different ways and shapes to do faces.

The pic is hard to see.....

I think it was pretty cute! It looks like the dog has a very sparse coat. That can make it hard to do a cute round head. The only thing I think I would have done differently would be to bob up the chin a bit.

what I am seeing is a Yorkie type head on a flop eared dog i would tighten the face and chin also the top of the head reducing the over sized head appearance the ears look good the face isn't bad either it just does not look balanced to the dogs body hair length it just need some fine tuning IMHO . something similar to this face

I think he would look cute with a schnauzer "type" face , maybe more like a brussels griffon with shorter brows tho...hmmm would be fun

              I think it's cute

I would shave the ears with a #40 inside and a #10 on the outside. Use the big Oster Blenders to tidy up the head and with a bit of hairspray, scrunch it up, comb and very cute!

I would do the same thing Epilady suggested with the ears. But I wouldn't tidy it too much. I like scruffy looking. He reminds me or a Cairn.

I would have done the ears shorter and brought the sides of the head in a little tighter with my thinning shears. Possibly a little shorter under the chin. She is adorable though!!

You did fine. If your not happy then use what others have said here. I do agree that in order for the head not to appear so large then you need to tighten up the look. Try a 4 on top of the head and slop down in blending through the side of the face. Use a #1 guard on the chin. Scissor to finish and use your blenders.

I think he looks cute & you did good.
Pooh 13's pic is what I usually "go for"...a nice, neat clean look....BUT, my clients usually think that's too short (sigh)

I like the idea of #10 on ears, but again, probably too short for some folks.

I have a schnoodle that looks a lot like that dog only shes wheaten ini color. I do the ears as Epilady said, sorta a topknot and a beard, kinda like a snz, but not as short on the sides of the face....let me see if I can find it.

what ever blade I used on the body is the blade I use for the ears so instead of clean ears they are puppyish but not considered shaved to a client that pic was #4.
