  • No good deed goes unpunished.

I had a little time between grooms today, so I figured Id stop at a mini-mart, get a diet pepsi, and do a little cleaning before my next groom. Just as I was finishing up, a car comes racing into the parking lot & pulls up beside the van. Inside is a woman, a teenage boy, and a small chi with enormously long nails. Tearfully, she tells me that she JUST NOW left her home due to an abusive relationship and was on her way to her moms, but her chi's nails kept getting stuck in the upholstery of her car and would I PLEASE trim his nails for her? I said sure, $5 sound fair? She smiled through her tears and said it was very generous, handed me the dog and said she'd wait right outside for me.

Needless to say, the dog was an utter pita for her nails but I got them done without incident. I scooped up the pooch, stepped out of the van and handed her to her mom. "Hang on a sec and I'll write you up a receipt". I stepped back into the van only to hear a squeal of tires and a shouted, Thanks a lot, lady! I knew I'd been stiffed for the $5. Worse yet, I found out when I climbed back into my cab that either her, or her son, had not only stolen my purse, but also the $40 in tips that I had in my tip jar!

I felt like writing UTTER SAP in felt marker on my forehead....I cannot BELIEVE I was so stupid. I suppose there's a lesson here somewhere, but other than "Never trust ANYBODY!" I can't figure out what it might be.

wow, I don't know what to say. Unbelievable. I can't believe how some people are. I hope there is such a thing as Karma. Don't change because of some low life's. Most people I believe are decent. Don't let the bottom of the barrel change who you are!

That is terrible!! You were doing something nice to help the lady and her poor little chi and you got robbed by them. Did you report it to the police? I am so sorry that happened to you, you dont deserve that kind of luck after all the kindness you show to others.

I hope that lady gets 4 flat tires and a blown motor in a cold rainstorm with no cell service and has to walk 5 miles to the nearest station. It will come back to her...

OK, its not ALL bad...mostly sucky, but not life shattering. As Mary aka Workingchi helped me to figure out , I do NOT carry credit cards, I did NOT have any irreplaceable photos, and other than my wallet (which had $5 in it) and my Wal mart reading glasses, there really wasnt much in there but a thing of nicotine gum and some hair-covered chapstick. And, I had a lousy drivers license picture that was taken 20 lbs ago, so now I have an opportunity to get a new one.

Im trying to enter my 44th year (birthday's tomorrow) with a positive outlook...how'm I doin so far?

              Unbelievable!

Inconvenient too! I guess all you can think is they better need the money more than you do. I am so sorry there are such mean dishonest people in the world. Now, we all will think twice before falling for that scam. I hope you get double blessings to make up for that.

Was this a gas station? Cuz they usually have cameras outside, I'd check anyway to see if they have them to get the ladies license plate number. Did you file a police report? I know I found out when my purse was stolen had I reported it stolen a new drivers license was free.

                        Well um..... Happy Birthday?

Thieves are at the top of my list of losers, right under child molesters. That really sucks. Karma will get them.... it's just too bad you won't see it to enjoy it.

Some people are just so low. It's amazing the things people will do these days. At least you didn't lose too many valuables.

I didn't. They opened the cab door and helped themselves. I just couldn't hear it over the idling engine.
