I was working at my shop late one night trying to fix a plumbing problem. A client called no lie 8 times in a row, as soon as the last ring rang, caller id would light up with her number again. Finally I was so annoyed I answered. SHe said she knew I just had to be there because I am always there, was there anyway she could make an appointment for tomorrow morning. I was so annoyed I said no. I would be closed the next day and she should really have just left a message the first time she called. Typically I am not that rude but why on green earth would you do that? And secondly no I am not always there. OH I just re-irked myself

They probably do it with everyone. Some people just refuse to leave a message. I have a friend that if I don't answer the phone she will call again and again until I call her back, and she never will leave a message. Just keeps calling. They don't think anything of it, that's just what they do, lol.Scratch a dog and you'll find a permanent job. ~Franklin P. Jones

Most of my clients know that I don't always get to the phone and will leave me a message. The calls with no messages are usually people wanting to sell me something I don't want or the even more annoying "robot" calls. GRRRRROld groomers never die, they just go at a slower clip.

Don't know but...
If I am annoyed like that into answering the phone I am prepared with something like, "Why didn't you leave a message?? I am here lying down with a migraine, and I finally had to get up thinking maybe there was an emergency!!"
Sometimes I am ready to pick up the phone 1/2" and then hang it up again, just for fun. Then see what they do, or leave it off the hook. I guess I'm just cranky when I'm bothered, lol.
And I wouldn't book them, either - I'd tell them to call back and leave a message or be prepared never to come in with their dog again.

I get the same thing. But the message on my machine states how long of a wait there is for appointments. People will call 4 or 5 times in a row without leaving a message, and then show up 15 minutes later at my shop - as if talking to me face to face is going to magically change the wait time.
But the best was when a woman called and left 11 messages on my machine on a Saturday morning. Each message got nastier and nastier and by the last message I could almost visualize the smoke coming out of her ears. My machine clearly states my hours of operation.... Monday thru Friday, closed Saturday and Sunday. (at the time - I'm no longer open on Fridays either) She had an appointment SOMEWHERE, (was not a client of mine) but couldn't remember what time it was at and was calling to verify. You would think if she would have taken the time to listen to my answering machine she would have figured out she was calling the wrong shop. But I guess 11 times wasn't enough for her. I got a giggle out of it anyway.
And then there was the guy who was in the middle of leaving me a message (obviously from his cell phone while driving) when somebody decided to pull out in front of him. My machine was filled with a pretty explicit rant. I think it's safe to say his road rage is worse then mine, and that's pretty bad. He actually came into my shop to apologize to me face to face for that. I considered saving it, because it was hilarious.

I work out of my home
I get those people calling several times in a row all the time. I don't answer the phone after 5 pm. I guess they think that since I work out of my home that I'm there for them any old time. Wednesday evening I got call after call on both my cell and the home phone from the same person. No message either! My outgoing message requests that they leave a message as I may be working with someones well loved pet. If it is after 5 pm I am with my family and I'll return the call during business hours, which are 9 - 5. It irks me too!
