  • So funny, it deserved it's own thread

So, by now you know I took a furry schnauzer and a dog with wire hair going every which way to Pasadena for Lisa. Now, I love Lucy's wild hair- it just suits her personality. It had gotten too wild, something about working 60 hours a week is a good deterrent to giving your dog a trim. So I had already dropped Pierre off with Lisa and went out to register. I had Lucy with me and this lady walks up to me and says she is going to give me her card because my dog needs to be groomed.
    I just about died.
I didn't know if I should burst out laughing, or hide in embarrassment that another groomer thought my sweet wild child looked so bad.
I took the next best course of action and very politely told her that of course she did. She was going to be getting her hair done by a fabulous groomer that had been on TV and was part of Groomteam and that she need not worry, Miss Lucy would be getting properly groomed that afternoon.
Anyone else ever had this happen?

Very funny! I can't wait to see the pics of Ms. Lucy with her Lisa Leady "do". Did she hand strip her?
she looks like she has the kind of wirey bed head I love to work on. And yes,not to worry, my poodles look pretty weird if in show coat, and behind schedule for a groom,or after swimming, people have told me your poor dog needs a haircut,or she looks like she put her paw in a light socket,or (at the beach) she looks like Bob Marley.

      HahahaHA!

Yes, that's very funny. I wonder why a groomer there didn't know that there would be some dogs coming in ungroomed to get their makeovers??? Fun-neeeee....

I had something similar happen @ chicago one year. I brought my field spaniel. While we were out walking, I cannot remember who was walking with me, a groomer from the show came up and asked me if he was a poodle. I said no, and she replied, oh thank god, because I was going to tell you there is a grooming comvention here this weekend and maybe I could find some one to show me how to groom my dog. I didn't know what to say

That's funny! and embarrassing!!!! it hasn't happened to me (yet).

I did see a beautiful black standard in a continental at the ski hill on Monday. He looked pretty good from a distance, but his leg poms were all choppy at the bottom and his feet were shaved WAY too high. I thought, too bad they ruined the feet. Later in the afternoon, I saw the dog close-up and was very relieved to see he was wearing black boots!!! I commented how thankful I was to the owner that she hadn't screwed up the feet!!

No, but, blabbermouth (yours truly) once told a lady at a dog park her little girl looked like she had a home groom because LOOK @ those legs! It turns out the owner WAS a groomer & was growing her out so she could have pom poms. [blush]

Did you like her pink sparkly mohawk? I did that! I have a picture, but it's very blurry. Lisa walked up to the booth and said "Give her some pink" I said "Can I add some glitter?" That adhesive spray is the bomb! I wish I could have taken some back but I flew. She said her name, and then it hit me who she was (Lucy, not Lisa)

At my first comp my hotel was next to a petsomething. I mean, literally shared the parking lot LOL. So I took my borrowed dog over there to stretch our legs. As I was perusing the aisles someone from the grooming dept came out and was petting her, then she told me the dog could REALLY use a groom and she had time right then if I wanted her to do it. I politely thanked her and then told her I was using the dog the next morning at ProGroom to compete with (she was a toy poodle by the way). Wow, she suddenly went from very polite and friendly to rude and abrupt and said "fine" and walked away LOL.

Not unusual..LOL. Had a major chain open up in my town and one of my cleints went in and they came out and oohed and ahhed all over her and told him he should bring her to them. His reply "Well don't you think she looks great ?" They replied "Oh yes beautiful job" He replied "Then why would I bring her to you wnhen I have a great groomer?" When he told me that story i jusy beamed and thanked him. He told me if I ever retire he'll have to go back to Philly because he doesn't liek any of th eother groomers around here..LOL
