  • Lesson for everyone :-(

    As I am sitting here, at home, not able to work today :-( I figured that I would share my "uh-oh".

    How many times have we jerked our scissors back as a dog turns to snap?

    Well, I did today at my very first appointment (a sweet dog that never snaps but it was strictly reaction) and I sliced my cheek with my very sharp scissors.

    I couldn't stop the bleeding (as we know faces, ears, tongues bleed a lot) so drove to my Doctor's office (only about 2 miles away) and am now sporting a black eye and cheek and a stitch. They only put in one and then steri-strips on the rest but it was good and deep and a lovely V shape. One of the Docs used to do fine detail work and doesn't believe there will be any scaring but I am bummed. Bruising only due to the stitch and impact I am sure and doesn't hurt except when they gave me the numbing shot.

    Doc said to go home and NOT WORK today (can't you that authorative voice who knows he is talking to a workaholic) since I run a risk of reopening it and needs time to seal to reduce risk of infection.

    Went ahead and got an updated Tetnis and now am home doing personal taxes...oh the fun.

    Gracie, I'm so sorry. I know how it feels to have a wound on your face...it's worse than anywhere else on your body. Minimal scarring or not, it sucks.

    Keep it clean, keep it dry, and try really hard not to reopen it. And take extra vitamin C while it's healing.

      How scary

      Could have been your eye! Hope you heal quickly and maybe we won't see a scar in Tacoma :-)

          I'm glad that it wasn't as bad as it could have been and that you FOLLOWED the doctors orders. Otherwise Rusty and myself would have to take away your van and ground you. Hope you feel better from one scar face to another! Just remember it's a character mark and every time someone asks you where you got it, it's a chance to come up with another fantasic story.

            So sorry Gracie. I went to pick up a pair of shears and move them out of the way of my spinning dog. As I reached for them I was not really looking and knocked them just enough to open the blades and grabbed them right on the open blade. Ouch- two slices accross my fingertips.
            But how scary to have the cut on your face! I hope you feel better soon and heal well.

                It's scary! Take care of yourself. Yesterday I jerked my arm back and nearly put my eye out with scissors, scared the hell out of me! Sorry to hear you actually got yourself!

                        Princesspoo- Rusty is pretending to take credit for it, I guess you could to :-) "My boss sucks so I pulled a redneck girl punch and..." . :-)

                        YES, but now I am soooo far behind :-)

                          Oh I am so glad to hear you are OK. In our profession you can have an accident in a split second. Tomorrow please take extra care. Just groom easy dogs, no one who struggles. I know they have creams to put on wounds to minimize scarring. Once it heals I'm sure you won't even see it. {HUG}

                            We'll figure it out girlie! We always do! I am a little dissapointed that all you could come up with is a redneck punch. I figured you at least go with the broken Budlight bottle as I run out of the trailer in a moo moo.

                              I'm glad you'll be ok.cocoa butter on the scab as it heals will help eliminate a buildup. As a man,I can say that I don't care if I get scarred again(college sports) but glad that your customers' dog wasn't injured too! I'm always aware that they may do something but even that can't be a prevention. Keep an open mind in the future that anything can happen at any time...I may sound like a wacko but being a professional makes us more aware of someone with amatuer experiences.
