question-when you do a springer do you cut the furnishings even ? or do you cut them and then using thinning shears to make them not look freshly cut.I dont like the freshly cut look but I think some clients do.Ive only done one springer and I cant remember If I used thinners or not.but I was waching someone do one the other day And It looked so crisp(the cuts)

I go by what the client says. Unfortunately I have zero springer owners who want their dogs feathers kept long. Most want a #9 springer cut with very short feathers. I use my clippers to skim from the body over all the feathers to blend them then scissor to the proper length.
Here is a pic of what most of my clients want. There is one toward the bottom of this page and then if you go to "Gallery two" There is an even shorter one on the next page

I scissor in my underline and all furnishings to set length, then I go back over it ALL with thinners to best set the lay and tips to get it as natural as possible. That's just me.Human kindness has never weakened the stamina or softened the fiber of a free people. A nation does not have to be cruel to be tough. ~Franklin D. Roosevelt
