The Paulding County shelter is closed for quarantine after several dogs were found to be ill with a strain of strep typically found in horses. This is reported to be the first time canine strep zoo has been seen in Georgia.
The reports I've seen indicate that the sick animals are responding well to treatment, the shelter facilities are being extensively disinfected, and the shelter expects to resume normal operations once a quarantine period has passed from the last day of discernible illness.
