  • Blue eyed white standard poodle

I saw one today and she was beautiful. I know its an AKC no no, but what causes it and is it rare?

Did the dog have any pigment at all on the nose/skin?

If it did not, then it might have been due to a genetic mutation similar to the one that produced the so-called "white" Dobes and similar pigmentation found in other breeds.

Ooooh! I would love one! (that was healthy...) Such a no no, but so pretty to me.
There are 3 different kinds of people in this world: Dog people, cat people, and rational people who don't have a problem liking two things at the same time.

It's caused by simple genetics. Hard to say exactly what without examining the dog, though.

          It's also highly likely that's she's deaf.
