  • I still have a Salon!

I still have a salon by the skin of my teeth. I left early today, slow day and it was going to start raining. I hardly ever leave early. By the time I got home and walked in the door (15-20 min) sirens were going off and weather man was on the TV saying "take tornado precautions." They said there was a tornado on the ground at the cross streets that my salon is at, and it was tracking straight toward my house. All clear at this point, and I know the building is still standing, I saw it on the news. The tornado turned a little and missed my house, and we dont know how much damage there is yet, but looks like no one was hurt very seriously. I will post the link to the pics when they get them up on the news station. Just makes me want to remind everyone to always be weather aware. Even if you are in an area where you dont always see it, like what was going on in Cali, it can happen anywhere, anytime.

    Thank Goodness

You and home & shop are OK. That could have been tragic. Prayers with you.

We were not suposed to, thats what makes it so scary. A lot of times we get a couple days warning that bad weather may hit, but this time it was just going to be rain. There are tons of pics and videos from people because it was right at rush hour and still daylight outside. So far no reports of serious injury but tons of ppl are without power. My phones are out, and cable and net off and on, but so far power is still on.

This pic was taken accross the street from my salon.

The news station is still putting all the pics up that they got. My area of town was not hit nearly as bad as some of the others.

Im not sure how to post it, but if you look at picture "10" on the site you can see where a house was messed up. If you look close you can see the dog crate in the pic with part of it cut out. They had the man who lived there on the news this morning talking about how he had to go over downed power lines to get to his house and cut the crate to get his dog out. Both man and dog are ok.

Eeeeeeek! So scary! I am very glad that you dodged the bullet!

I had a close encounter w/a tornado at my shops first location about 13 yrs ago. The weather was turning very bad very quickly and the news on the radio kept coming on w/announcments of where twisters had been sighted. In my wisdom I decided to quickly walk my few boarding animals before the rain started (never believing a twister would ACTUALLY come near me).

I managed to get all the dogs walked and was shutting windows in my shop when I looked outside and all I saw was a whiteness....hard to explain. There was no noise like a train or anything. I stood there gaping for a few seconds before I realized what it was and I hit the ground and crawled into the center of the shop. When it was over I looked back out the same window and the auto dealership right behind me had an entire section of their roof taken off and a HUGE window wall shattered and several cars flipped over. I only lost a few roof tiles and my shop was throwing distance from the dealership......so weird how tornado's pick and choose like that!

Anyway, glad you made out okay.

Yikes, that's soooo scary! And so close! A few years ago, the tornado siren went off when I was in the middle of bathing a dog. Glad I had my creepy dark 1/2 basement under the shop.

Someone was watching over you, that's for sure.
So glad you, home and shop are fine. How scary.
