  • Doberman's stolen from rescue!!!!

Cool School for Dogs’ owner, Brad Josslyn, and his niece, Ashli Thomas, say that in five years, they have never been robbed. The two are rattled about losing 12 dogs overnight. Thomas works there, and stays in an apartment at the business. She said she heard the dogs barking about 3:30 Tuesday morning. She said this is normal, but when they didn’t stop barking, she went to investigate. She found the downstairs light on, which is unusual, and when she got downstairs, she saw a man at the back door. He was holding a knife, and he swung at her, slashing her side. The man got into a white utility van with no back windows, and the driver took off down W. Market street toward Jonesborough.
Josslyn says the backyard gate lock is gone, and the back door’s lock had been busted. Thomas and Josslyn say there were nine Doberman Pinschers taken, one hound mix, one Black Lab, and one Miniature Pinscher. One dog had three legs, and another was blind. The dogs were all rescued, waiting to be adopted.
Thomas says a man came to their business Monday afternoon, telling her that he heard they sold Doberman Pinschers. She told him that they do not sell the dogs, but they rescue them, and they are available for adoption. The man asked how much one in particular would be, and Thomas said it was not for sale, but gave adoption fee information about other dogs. Thomas and Josslyn say they believe the man is connected to the robbery, but he was not the man who cut Thomas with a knife. Josslyn fears the dogs were stolen to be sold for research.
Some of the dogs that were stolen have micro-chips with barcodes, so if they are found, they can be scanned and returned home.

That just makes me sick. I cant get the link to work, but I do hope Ms. Thomas will be ok. I have to have faith that they will find these dogs. How sad to be rescued from goodness knows what only to get stolen and taken into goodness knows whats worse.

I think this will be investigated and the offenders will be punished b/c they injured a person. Hopefully the authorities will take it seriously.

I hope the dogs are found. I did a shudder cause the thought went thru my mind that the dogs were stolen for"bait" dogs for the dog fight rings.

                Update!!!

It was all fake! The woman who reported it admitted she made it up because she was not properly caring for the dogs. But they're still missing.

I held up on posting about the alleged theft of a dozen rescue dogs from a dog training facility in TN because I couldn't shake the nagging...

I just heard that as well, but couldn't find a new report or find an answer about where the dogs were. Thank you so much for posting! I hope they find those dogs.

                      False Report Arrest

                      Approved by:Lt. Steve Sherfey

On January 21, 2010, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Ashli Thomas, DOB 5-2-1985, 2806 Newbern Drive, Johnson City, Tennessee, and charged her with Filing a False Police Report. The arrest is the result of an investigation in which Miss Thomas stated that on 1-19-2010, while working at the Cool School for Dogs, 3548 West Market
Street, she was stabbed by a subject who then left the scene with 12 dogs.

Miss Thomas admitted that she made the story up because she had left the dogs unattended and had not been caring for the dogs properly. The owners of the business, Brad Josselyn and Tamara Josselyn, along with Miss Thomas were charged by Washington County Animal Control with eight counts of animal
cruelty. Miss Thomas was transported to the Washington County Detention Center and was placed under a $5,000 bond. She is scheduled for an arraignment in Washington County General Sessions Court on January 22, 2010 at 9:00 A.M.

The remaining dogs were seized and are completely emaciated. A photo of one.

I am sickened. I called their dog training business in Sept. I finally got a call back a little over a week ago. It was very strange. He kept trying to convince me to do private lessons. Who does a call back months and months later? Weren't they afraid I'd see the starving dogs?! They were operating a rescue which everyone thought was respectable.
