  • Is there any such thing?

So, I am well on my way to making my House Call grooming business official and all legal. The paper work is off to the state, Ive gotten an insurance policy. Website 90 % done.

I have run in to a glitch though. I am going to groom dogs up to 40 lbs but obviously they wont all fit in a sink. Is there any such thing as a grooming hose and nozzle that can attach easily (without having to lug a bunch of tools and take peoples tubs and showers apart) to peoples tubs?

Anyone doing House Call grooming? How do you handle this slightly larger dog baths?

while my van was in the shop I did housecall grooming; I carried my recirc pump with me in a bucket; I used the owners' tubs and the recirc pump both for washing and rinsing.
Then back in the bucket for the trip out to my car.

Yes, I cannot for the life of me remember the brand, but there is a pet wash hose with sprayer that has a universal rubbery attachment that slides onto a bathtub faucet...I THINK a member here once mentioned one that can be found at Wally World, but I was unable to find it...hopefully that will ring a bell!

Ow! Wouldnt that kill your back? Using a regular tub? Or is there a certain way to avoid it?

(I had a hose hook-up I used to use for my own dogs, but it leaked and sprayed everywhere. So I gave up there)

          I use

my Hanvey Bathing Beauty, also carried in a 5 gal bucket, shampoos and assorted stoppers and a good suction cup loop. For a bath tub, if you kneel on the folded towel that you will use, keeping your back fairly straight and let the recirculater do the work thus no bending over scrubbing the back can be just fine. I never have to worry about their water pressure and I can get the dog clean down to the skin even on a thick coated Aussie or Standard Poodle. I run a clothes attached to a shower head (actually a shirt sleeve) by a hair band into the bucket and can even bath a dog in a conventional non-sprayer shower. I bath in sinks, laundry sinks, bathtubs, showers, one doggie bathtub and owner got for her dogs and even a sledge on a warm day in the yard. I've even bathed a dog just on a table in the yard, suds up and spray off. We do the table thing sometimes at the dog shows too.
Money will buy you a pretty good dog but it won't buy the wag of it's tail.

I do house call grooming.. I do bathe dogs in tubs too, but I do dogs any weight. Right now I do a husky that is 70 or so lbs.. I need to find a nozzle thing too. Hope you can get better answers than what I can give. My husky client is now a weekly client! :-D

Thanks guys. I will see if I an find the hose that slips over te faucets.

As for the back. Hopefully I wont be doing to many of these. I am hoping most pets will fit in the sink but if I can do a few in the tubs it will expand what I am able to groom.

To the groomer with the weekly husky customer. God bless you! LOL

Lol, It's my choice, and I do love to work on big dogs. I would much rather do them then a small dog, But! I will do them too, but would prefer to do big dogs. :-D This husky is fantastic in the tub and with the dryer too.

Ya shut the bathroom door,, giggles,, I have a keeshond that I do monthly.. I can make it snow inside!!!!lol

FYI, I tried one of the tub attachments with the rubber thingies, was a big waste of money. Water went everywhere! 99% of my HC customers have a shower attachment, for those that don't, I use a big cup from the 7-11. I fill the tub up a couple inches,, wet the dog, mix water & shampoo in the cup, it kinda ends up being a huge hydro thing, soapy water, wet dog,, big cup!. I repeat the same method for rinsing.

why not invest in a portable tub to use in the owners tub..? its a small chunk of change to save you from having to stoop over a regular tub.. just a thought..

I also use a homemade recirc system

I do housecall and also use a pump attached to a hose. Carry it all in two buckets...one for my shampoo, conditioner, face cloths, tub restraint, curry brush, etc. The other for the pump, nozzle, and anything else that I get wet during the bath. Working out pretty good for now!
