I have bronchitis. I have been sick since the week before x-mas. It started w/ a sinus infection which was brought on by all the crazy nasty air in the salon from the before holiday rush. The sinus infection (which was getting better) drained into my chest, alot, and bacteria started to grow in all the drainage and now I have bronchitis. I have never in my life had bronchitis. How can one person sound and feel so sick, yet never run a fever? I am taking antibiotics (which I hate w/ a passion), to help clear up the bronchitis. After 3.5 days of calling in sick and being on the antibiotics, I am still coughing (though it is better) and have laryngitis and still can't talk above a whisper. I am planning on going to work tomorrow, don't see how I can keep putting it off, but am dreading it so much. I feel like I am yelling just to get out a whisper. I think I will be grooming in the back so I have to have less dealing w/ the customers and answering the phone. I feel like my voice needs to rest, but really have no idea when my voice will better and can't just keep calling off because I can't talk. My request dogs have already been rescheduled twice. I feel better, but have low energy due to less oxygen in the blood. I hate this. I never really thought bronchitis was a big deal, but my hats off to those of you who get it regularly, cause it sucks big time.

Dont push yourself, bronchitis is nothing to play with. Your lungs are weakened, you could get pneumonia really easily. Been there, had that, tried to be superwoman and ended up in the hospital in the CCU unit because the infection spread from my lungs to the lining of my heart and I had myocarditis (sp?). Take care of yourself!

I know so many people that are coming down with bronchitis this year. My 11 yr. old was diagnosed with bronchitis and the two weeks later pnuemonia. We were then told she had swine flu. With very strong meds. (injectable and oral) she recovered well, but I got my younger daughter immunized for swine flu right after that. I had respiratory flu at the end of Dec. Spent all of New Years Eve and New Years Day in bed. Have not felt that bad in a long time. Take care of yourself and hopefully feel better soon.Lisa VanVleet, RVT

If your throat is scratchy,or sore,or dry cough,I have found a tea made with Thyme, honey, and lemon, sipped slowly very helpful. A nurse taught me this recipe when Lois had mono so bad I had to take her down for oxygen, and it has always helped our family a lot. Just some thyme from your spices is fine to make your tea, doesn't have to be fresh. I just strain it,and add lots honey and lemon. Hope you feel better soon!"Everyone needs something to beleive in..I beleive I need another Poodle"

I had a similar issue up until about a yr ago I would lose my voice on a weekly basis .This is going to sound gross but it really does work , drink a shot of dill pickle juice a couple times a day .works great for strep throat, tonsillitis ,laryngitis.or just a sore throat. if you cant stomach swallowing it at least gargle with it but it is not as effective as drinking it.

I'm surprised you don't get a fever! I get bronchitis all the time because i have COPD and I ALWAYS get a fever when i get it. I have been hospitalized twice for it....both times for 5 days because i waited too long to go to the doctors to get antibiotics....it's no fun! Hope you get better soon!

I make that tea all the time
For my allergies. It gets the crud out of my throat. Real lemon, fresh honey, dried thyme, hot hot water, and I use lemon tea but you can use regular. Also, if you are starting to feel bad start popping oil of oregano capsules. Like 4-6 a day. Oh, icky burps, but kills whatever is ailing you. I've not had antibiotics in a good long time. We keep them in our medicine cabinet at our house.

Don't know why I haven't had a fever (shrugs), just lucky I guess lol. I get tired pretty easy because my lungs just can't handle any increase in oxygen need, but really other than the constant hacking, sore throat and laryngitis (which is really the worst part) I feel pretty good. On a fun note, apparently the constant coughing and inability to eat much, not to mention what antibiotics do to my body, I have lost 5 lbs in a week, wahoo! My dad suggested green tea w/ honey for my cough, which actually worked almost immediately, go dad! Last night I put a cloth soaked in epsom salt water over my throat for about 15 min. before I went to bed and this morning my throat feels much better and the talking is a bit easier. I have been cruising the internet looking for home remedies because other than mucinex my doctor suggested that time was all I needed. Well, sometimes (most of the time) that is just not a good enough answer for me! Thanks for the suggestions, they are appreciated. I am going to go back to work today, thank goodness I have tomorrow off, that will give me another day to recuperate. I will just be working in the back so there is much less need for me to have to talk all day.I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.

Yep, going on my 3rd week now of being sick.
Started out with a headache, sore throat, then went to my lungs with constant coughing, Doctor said I had Sinuitis and Bronchitis, but then when I thought I was finally feeling somewhat better on my 11th day I woke up that Friday morning unable to even sit up without being extremly nauseaed and dizzy, could not hold any food or water down and stayed in the bed from when I got in on Thursday night till Saturday morning.
I layed flat out all day friday if I tried to get up or sit up I was at the toliet throwing up, then Saturday I felt a little better. Now my DH is sick too.
So I went on to work Monday and did 13 dogs and got home at 1:00 I felt like I had been used for a punching bag, I have not been on my feet more than 30 min in over a week, so I layed down when I came in and sleep for 3 hours.
I told work I would come in Thurs, Fri, Sat hopefully I will be at full strength by then.
