  • St. Berdoodle?

Yep, someone called for one. Never seen one, have no idea what to charge. Are they comparable to a goldendoodle? Just bigger? I don't even know what to quote her...if my goldendoodles start at $XX, would you think to quote $XX plus $20? Obviously once I see the dog it will be easier for me to decide, but I'm not even sure what to tell her on the phone!

I've done one. She was the size of a large GD (90#) and had MEGA fur--all of it curly. Start by quoting her the upper range of your GD prices & let her know you can't say for positive until you see the dog.

I would want at least $10,000.

Honestly I would want nothing to do with that. I would quote $XXX, and add and extra $30-35 on to that, if I didn't scare them away, at least I would get paid for the time to groom her, and recover after.

high end saint price + a little dash of toy poodle face, feet and tail.

I would think that would be one big doofus of a dog, although big, cute, and goofy makes a cute dog, they are the hardest for me to do. I would rather do a biter sometimes, than a big drooley ofe.

I'd most likely charge it similar to a Newf hair cut, but if they want poodle feet charge extra for that cus its not a poodle.

You know, there are two types of saint coats. If the saint was of the smooth variety, it might not be so bad. Just big. But if the saint was dripping coat to the ground.... I think I'd run.

Personally, I'd do as someone else suggested. Add another x to that price. It'd be at least 3 figures.

I would quote your St. Bern or Newf price. For me it is at least $x5x.

I think it is near impossible for you to quote a price until you know if it is a 60 pound dog or a 150 pound dog. Since I've seen 40 pound Standards and 90 pound Standards, just as I have seen 80 pound Saints and 200 pount Saints, I wouldn't know how to even begin to guess on their mix of the two.

Did she indicate how much her dog weighs?

Quote a St. Bernard price plus a Poodle price!

$10,000 it is then. Ha ha.

No, I got her voicemail when I called back, so I don't have much info yet. It's a referral from another local shop whose groomer had to go on medical leave. But, they are much much cheaper than any other shop around. I know one referral from them hung up on my after saying that he wouldn't pay more than $25 a dog his english cockers. I'm nearly double that.
