Has anyone else been really slow. I have decided to do 6 dogs instead of 5 and it has been slow ever since January started. Most days I only get 3 dogs which means I don't make a lot. I'm thinking I need to increase my amount of house call grooming.
    Anyone slow as well,
    K.

I'm always slow this time of year. I took this week off to get caught up on house cleaning (neglected before Christmas), painting the kitchen, getting my year-end documents together for tax time, etc.
When I get back to work, there will be 9 dogs a day again for the next 2-3 weeks. In February, I will fully book up four days of the week before opening the fifth day. I enjoy the extra bit of time off and try to make the most of it - Dr. and Dentist app'ts, visits with friends - all those things I don't seem to have the time or energy for when I'm busy. I keep an eye on the booking and as soon as it starts getting busier, I'm back to full time.

I'm a little slower than normal right now, but that's the way January usually goes. I'm not quite as slow as I've been in past Januaries, though, which is a bit surprising, considering our local economic crunch.

For one thing, everyone just had their dog groomed before Christmas, and it's not time for another groom. And no one has any money left! February is often slow, too. But come March (at least around here) we start getting the OAY dogs, and the regulars are cycling back around so things pick up.

We've been decent...extra dogs every day for the last week. Today is really bad though: only 1 dog.
January is usually slower for me even with having clients on schedules since I just saw most of them right before Christmas.

Hang in there. You'll be wishing for a slow day come spring and summer.

I am not known for being slow with the bookings, but this month is looking slow in places. I too, had many clients come in before Christmas, early even, and are set for awhile. I am just now getting a trickling of calls in of those that don't prebook. Last week was crazy busy, this week is slow. Next week is mostly full, then bam, booked up after.

Last week and this week I took an extra day off. I get tired of going on for 2 dogs on one day and 3 on another, so I'd rather take the day off and do 5 tomorrow.

However, because I left early yesterday I had about 9 million (slight exaggeration) messages to return. It looks like no days off next week.

Saturdays, however, are booked 3 weeks out.

Last year I wasn't as slow in Jan and Feb as I thought I would be, but I did notice that my spring shave offs came in April, and not so much in March. Then again, we had a lot of snow and cold last year. Hopefully we will have an early spring, and get busy earlier!

I love it I really do, I take a few days off here and there, spend time with my kids, clean my house, play on the computer I have learned to calm down and enjoy the time off.

Talk about being slow...I'm doing good if I have 6 dogs a week.
                  Mon. -- two
                  Tues.-- one
                  Wed.-- one
                  Thur.-- 0
                  Fri.-- 0
                  Sat.-- two
Unless I get some calls in the next day or two that's what it is looking like.
I don't think I've ever been this slow since I started.

It just slowed down a little to be comfortable. I'm not complaining because I know this is the calm before the storm.
I'm really just a little dog in a big dog's body (I really should cut down on those milk bones).

I've been steady so far with 6 dogs a day..4 days a week. It's that way for 3 weeks yet. But I took in alot of new customers last year.

I've had a few openings in the last 2 weeks-which I love. Next week, all the Christmas dogs are back. No more openings til the first week of Feb.
Old groomers never die, they just go at a slower clip.

                        Groom on!!!

I have been waiting for it to be slow, but not luck yet. Im really not complaining with the economy and all, but with the holidays making short weeks, then our half inch of snow that shut me down for 2 work days, it seems like middle of summer again. I am not booked as far out, but I get the calls every morning and can fill the day up pretty easy.
