What is a Croup?
"Be sure that there is "cushion" at the tail base so that there is no dip off the croup where the tail adjoins the body."
Uh... wha? I don't get it. I saw the picture of what you are supposed to do (looked like a little bulb at the end of the tail?) but what is a "dip off the croup?" Isn't there a vaccine for that now? (lol)
I really appreciate that you write this blog, btw, it is quite informative. Thanks!

The croup is the muscled portion of lower back behind the loin and in front of the tail base. It is made up by the lower lumbar and the point of ilium or point of hip. AKC officially says: "The dog's bottom or rump."Human kindness has never weakened the stamina or softened the fiber of a free people. A nation does not have to be cruel to be tough. ~Franklin D. I am so jealous!!
I don't see many Westies or Cairns or any Terrier with that much coat usually! They typically have thin, wispy hair that can hardly even BEGIN to make a carrot tail. More like, maybe a suggestion of the shape, haha. However, I do remember having some hefty coats to work on in the far distant past....

Chris, you absolutely amaze me. Every time you post that you've added to your blog, I MUST read it. There isn't a thing I haven't learned from you. When are YOU going to write a grooming book? You have so much to teach us (well, me, that is).
As always, thanks for "another" great tip!
