  • How tacky would it be

to post a sign BELOW the closed sign when I am here working after hours to say do not tap on window,I am working! or more politley worded? Trying to finish up last year and people just bang away, I would happily choke them but that would just be more paper work. Any ideas on how to handle, word this, My shop is open and no room for a wall, maybe a screen around the desk, hate that I am claustrphobic.

Not knowing how your shop is set up its hard to know what to say..can you install some blinds that you can close when your shop hours are over? Or maybe cut off all of the lights in the shop except the one at your desk?

    Sign ideas:
We are closed, but thank you for stopping by and please call again tomorrow.

Then post in BIG LETTERS your shop hours & phone number below the notice.

    Sorry, thats all I have..

When I say open I mean you can see all the way to the back door,The sign says closed, the hours are posted, so is the # I do not want to spend $400 for blinds the windows are 5x 10 on one side and 6.5 x10 on the other,it is cost prohibitive and I am claustrophobic, meaning can not be in aclosed space or really will choke someone. The lights are off except at the desk and I am obviously working, sigh.......most of these idiots aren't MY clients.

I used to have that when I worked in a salon, but it was always children that smacked the window. So I used a picture of a cracked window, a big ghostbusters symbol, and a NO. It usually worked. Emphasis on usually.

My favorite! BAHAHAHAHA!! Yet again you find the most clever use of language. Love ya, Sibes!!

I don't have any suggestions to add about a sign. I've never had luck with them. I found it even more annoying to have people looking around the sign I posted about not disturbing the pet or groomer, so I finally took it down. At the vet clinic I groom in a room that's half glass and people are constantly walking right up to it and some will even tap. Drives me and the kitties crazy. Thankfully, I work with an awesome receptionist that does an excellent job of directing people away from the groom room, but it's still a very aggravating situation. I find myself taking a lot of deep breaths. LOL!

Can you hang drapes? I did that in a storefront once where the blinds were too pricey. I tied them back during the day and closed them at night.

                            How aggravating!!

How about "Please do not bother the cleaning lady when shop is closed" or maybe "When shop is closed, please do not knock and bother the people working inside"???

Of course, if they recognize you, that won't work. And most people want what they want when they want it.

An inexpensive tall and wide shelving unit draped with a shower curtain, fabric or whatever may help block the view, plus hold "stuff". I did this in one of my shops - Lowe's has some nice utility shelving (open wire, in cream, silver or black, I think) and I bought a large curtain that was on sale for about $6, probably the size of a shower curtain, and I tied and clipped the curtain to the back of the rack, which was facing forward and could hold retail. That blocked a LOT of what people could see from one front window, which was really helpful when I was there before or after opening. It was a nice relief, and was under $100 total.

                            4Sibes - great poem, lolololol.
