  • Drop in Business due to cold weather in Florida

I have a client reschedule 3 time in the last few days due to the cold weather, so I finaly told her call me when it's 80 degrees again, also my phone has been very quiet, what's up
I need some feed back on this pleeeeees.

    Thanks from chilli Florida.

It has been dead here in Ga, too. Even tho Jan is traditionally quiet; it is dead quiet; I did pick up 2 grooms yesterday in my mobile, but at the corporate shop where I work, my 9:00 no showed and my 12:00 cancelled at 11:55.
So I got the afternoon off w/out pay.

If that was true for me, I'd be on "vacation" from October to April. While that sounds good to me, not so good for the pocketbook. But I live in Montana, where unless its -30 or so, people just tough it out. Clients that cancel due to cold weather know they might not get a appt in the next couple of weeks, so they usually just come it. What is cold for Florida? I would trade what ever it is for our weather. Its been snowing all day and is about 20.

Well I'm not from Florida, but I can tell you, here in Indiana, it is brutally cold (even for Indiana) and I have been having folks call and reschedule because they are afraid their dogs will get cold. Others are making their appts., but just wanting a bath and tidy instead of a full groom. Hang in there, Florida has to get warm again and then you will be swamped with all those owners complaining that their dogs are too hot.

Slow here in SC, this deep freeze is killing grooming for me. My housecall is ok, but the shop I work in 3 days a week is dead, normally I do 5-6 dogs per day, but the last 3 days I have done a total of 6 dogs. Gets out my tin cup, goes and finds a corner to stand on,,,lmao

I believe Florida is being hit with the same storm system the East is getting. My sister outside of Baton Rouge, LA told me it was 26F yesterday evening at 5pm. She was expecting ice and snow on the roads this morning, and you know that that kind of weather is unusual enough for them to be treacherous driving conditions.

These customers need to come up north where it is 10*, 8-15 inches of snow as my customers do all winter long then they will appreciate you alot more!!!

We are having 12 straight days here in SC under 25 at night; days only up to 35-40. It is usually 40's at night and 50-60 daytime.
People's pipes are bursting right and left; and it is really bitter cold out. My rabbit's water dishes are frozen in a couple of hours.
No way to bring 60 or so rabbits in the house, plus the heat would shock and stress them.

It is COLD here. BITTERLY cold. Like 17 at night and not above 40 during the day and no end in sight....but my bath business is booming. Grooming is good, but bathing is WAY WAY WAY up. For January its odd. We had 19 today, 12 of them were bath or FFTT dogs. I worked hard to build that kind of cleintele. They understand that the dog has to be bathed and brushed and they don;t want to do it!

I feel for all of you guys though. It's no fun sitting around with nothing to do.

                      Cold weather

Unusual weather always makes people cancel or no-show. I imagine that IS cold for Georgia, but sure would love to have those temps here right now!! This has been the warmest day in the past week - woke up to -20˚ F, yes 20 below zero... and it warmed up to 11 degrees. We still have another 4-5 days of this bitter cold. We're pretty used to it in WI, though. Only had one no show yesterday, his furnace went out and he had to wait for the repairman. I told him to call back later in the day and reschedule. When he hadn't called by 3 pm we tried calling him. The person who answered his phone hung up on us. Tried calling back thinking we had dialed the wrong number. This time the person said it wasn't the correct residence. So, we looked up the number in the phone book, it was the same one we were dialing. I'm not sure what's up or how to get in touch with him. He's an elderly customer - but he's always prompt with his every 8 week appt. (cockapoo).

I think the reason people in the south east react this way is #1 it IS unusual for it to stay this way, since we usually get three or four days then a break, and its been a week or two and no end i n sight, and #2 MANYMANY people have no central heat! TRhey are trying to survive on space heaters and assume we are doing the same. I cannot tell you how many people have asked me do we use warm water and is the drying room heated!

Yee gads I had ice on my truck windows this morning! I let the truck run to melt ice and warm up the seats! And house was cold as we don't have central heat and are using space heaters. I could'nt wait to get to shop because it has central heat! I'll probably get cancellations today. Ice in south florida who da thunk it?
