After struggling for so long with my cat to get his meds in him the heavens have shined upon me! At first I was just pilling him and he was ok with it, but as he started to feel better he started to fight it. Then I started finding the pills under the couch or in the cushions etc. So then I tried crushing it and mixing it with wet food, but he's not a huge fan of wet food and I wouldn't know how much of the meds would actually get in him. Then I tried Tuna. Worked for a while and then he got bored with it. I was at the petstore and saw the pill pockets that Greenies makes and said outloud to my son (not that at 3 years old he really cared LOL) I wish they made those for cats. Upon a second glance I realized the packaging said FELINE pill pockets. So I paid the almost $4 for the little pouch hoping that these would work. OMG (and when I say it the G stands for gosh LOL) I have to watch my fingers because he pratcially rips them off trying to grab this treat. it's soft with a hole in it. I place the pill in, squeeze the treat to close the hole, shake the bag and he comes running full speed (so no more hunting him down either) and he now takes his meds, no problem, so easily I no longer dread it and he seems to think he's getting a special reward! So YAY for the feline pill pockets by Greenies! They have made a huge difference in making sure I get the meds into my kitty regularly!

Glad to hear they are working for your kitty. It's so nice to have kitty asking for their meds. I haven't tried them but I'll keep them in mind if I need a new technique.
Normally, for antibiotics, etc. I just pill my kitties, but I do have a cat that gets meds once a day and probably will for the rest of his life. His meds come in a powder form and it's very bitter. This is what I do: I make up about a months worth of doses into capsules (bought at the local pharmacy). Every morning I grab one capsule from the container - Grasshopper hears me and comes running. I then get a tiny amount of butter and coat the capsule with butter and keep an itty bitty bit on my fingers. I pill him, then he gets to lick my fingers. He absolutely LOVES butter. The hardest part about giving his meds is making sure he doesn't get the capsule out of my fingers before I get it past his tongue. He's not fighting me and since the capsule is lubed up, it doesn't stick and slides right down the hatch."The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go." ~Dr. Seuss

Yes, Spook needs to take one pill twice daily and will for the rest of his life. I'll be buying the pill pockets probably from petedge or wherever I can find them cheaper in large quanities! And he's never been one to like treats much either so these must be REALLY tasty! What a caterpillar considers the end of his world, we call a butterfly.
