  • There is something badly wrong w/my kids!

It is almost 6 a.m. and they STILL aren't awake. I have been up for hours waiting for them to get up. Maybe I need to start slamming doors or something.....lol.......Todd would murder me. That man do love to sleep!

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope Santa is good to all of you. I also hope your kids are normal and are already tearing into their presents. The suspense is killing me and I am DYING to get my hands on the new Wii games )

Me too, Sheila. Santa is still snoring in our room down the hall. Should I wake him?!

    Merry Christmas!

it is almost 9:00 am here. Of course my husband & I are older & we never had any 'human kids' but our 4 legged furry ones did get me up at a nicely late 7 this morning. Guess they wanted to be nice here too...LOL. In our family we do the 'Holiday' thing on Christmas eve and Christmas day is alllllllllllll ours!

so today... a robe, slippers, lap quilt, hot cup of tea, good book and my new baby Deirdre (a 3-5 yr old yorkie with fluxating patelas & no upper teeth) and Im all set!

I should share (maybe) about 'us' to explain Deirdre. For us, never being able to have children... but (mostly me, LOL) being the bleeding heart I am... all of our 'kids' are rescues. We have never really 'sought out' any one dog... they find us. What all our 'kids' are, are the unadoptable rescues. The ones who have had a really tough life or have been bounced around due to behavior issues or other physical issues. She is not meant to be a present, it just happened to be 'time' for her to be placed... I am very, very happy and with her in my baby sling we shall sit around all day and enjoy doing nothing.

Well my Dad would never ever let us sleep in on Christmas morning. He was an early riser like 4am. He would turn the stereo on full blast and literally blast us out of bed. Didn't matter what time we went to bed, 4:30 am we were up. he loved Christmas.

Then he would fix us a beeg breakfast, pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage. After breakfast we would all go back to bed.

Even after we all left home, he expected us to be at his house no later then 7am. He'd make sure we were up by calling all of us with the music blasting in the phone. Least he'd wait to 5am to call us.

*Wince* That sounds...nightmarish...eish. Mostly because I am NOT a morning person and I can't even remember the last time I saw that time of day! (Four has an AM?!?!)

But cute he'd continue the tradition after you guys are grown...hehehe.

Every Christmas we have had to wake up our children (anywhere between 7:30 and 8:30) This year is the first time they woke us up. They are 10 and 11 yrs. old. They came in our room at 7:30 this morning. I told them to give me about 15 minutes to let dogs out and back in and get them fed.

My daughter woke up at 8:30am and my son had to be rolled kicking and screaming out of bed at 9am. She is a morning person, he is SOOOO not. LOL

Mine made it to 8 this morning good thing too, Mr. and Mrs. Clause here fell asleep watching T.v. last night. Luckily one of the dogs started barking at a cat around 5:30 and woke Mrs. Clause up. She woke Mr. Clause up and we ran aroung like quiet idiots getting presents out of our van and setting everything up. We made it, and got to go back to sleep for a cpl hours.

We had to get Kaeleigh out of bed (17) at 9:30...the rest of us were already up and moving.
My mom always worked night shift so I can't tell you how many years we had to wait until 12 NOON to open presents so she was able to get some sleep. By the time she actually got out of bed, it was usually 1:00 pm. I HATED having to wait

I woke up to the smoke alarm at 630 this AM

It has been a tradition from my oldest that she would always make blueberry muffins for us to nibble on while opening gifts and this was the first year that my oldest was not with us first thing in the morning sooooo my 15 year old daughter decided to carry on the tradition..Oh well the muffins were alright but something must have spilled in the bottom of the oven and the whole house filled up with smoke...hehe she was so embarassed that we had to wake up to the alarm and not the blueberry aroma of fresh baked muffins...lol Another Christmas to remember...lol

Hope all had a great one!!!
