This is a waste of an award that could have been given to someone fighting back into action from an awful injury; who'd be far more worthy of it. Stupid. Just stupid. Not what this award was meant for at all. ~Wonder who paid who for this one.

OK, I am an old lady... but Ill share this personal belief... I think sports players are very very overpaid and get way to much attention. I hear the sports fans say things like "they have short careers, they put their lives on the line.. dont you know many end up near cripples from multiple injuries, they are our modern day gladiators"..etc etc etc...

bah humbug is what I say

putting their lives on the line, modern day gladiators......
What about teachers - they spend their lives giving to the next generation.
What about nurses - they do the Dr.s work (half the time anyhow)
What about police, fire, sheriffs... etc etc etc

I think all the attention and money these pro sports guys get is horrible. Im sorry to be so negative, but lets get real...if anyone says it is entertainment...

My thoughts exactly! I'm so tired of people treating sports figures as heroes. Vick has not paid his due; it is the dogs that have died which paid.

Wooo hooo!!! I couldn't agree w/ you more. Maybe if we payed more attention to our own lives, family, friends and neighbors, instead of athletes, celebrities and wannabes, our whole country would be in better shape.
