  • OT - Olympic torch relay

I just got back from watching my sister run with the Olympic torch. She was lucky enough to be one of the 12,000 people, selected from millions of applicants to run with the torch. How cool is that!

She carried it for a whopping 300 metres (328 yards) and got to keep the torch and an official windbreaker jacket and pants, toque and mittens.

It was great to see my sister so proud to represent her country and see her SO very happy. I`m so thrilled she got to do this - she`s a good person and I`m glad she was chosen for this honour.

Some background info on the Olympic flame:
The flame was lit in Olympia, Greece on Oct 22nd and hundreds of torchbearers carried the 2010 Olympic Torch on its eight-day relay through Greece before being handed over to the Vancouver Olympic 2010 delegation. They brought the sacred flame back to Canada to begin a 106 day, 45,000km (27,962 miles) around the country.

I was just sent this link: http://www.listenuptv.com/listenup/video?video_id=175
It's my sister running with the torch. Don't panic, you don't need to watch the entire clip (9 minutes long), she's the first 2 minutes. We were very lucky there were no protesters during her run. There have been reports of disruptions and protests along the way.

Aw CC! That was so cute. Her excitement was contagious, as I found myself sitting here w/ a big ole grin on my face for her. Go Wendy Go!
