When my hands get dry enough to crack, they hurt. Can I assume the same is true if Wyatt's pads are looking dry and cracked, too? Do dry pads have less traction on wood floors than soft pads (making it more of a struggle for him to rise)? Finally, is there anything I can, or should, do about it?

I just put something about this on my other post what are the odds.
About the dog I am sitting scraped some skin off the pads at his wrists and upon further inspection his pads are really dry so I am using some skin works and I also have some foot cream from Nature's Speciality that I use on me and my dog.
I imagineThey certainly do hurt even more than our dry cracked hands as they have to continue to walk on their painful cracked pads and they usually will begin to lick at them alot and pick at the webbing between thier toes and such.

Happy Tails BowWow Butter Balm...it's for cracked noses and pads. I've never seen anything work better. I actually use it on my own feet and hands, lol. After bathing all day my hands are dry and chapped. I just rub a little dab of it on my hands, and all better!!Scratch a dog and you'll find a permanent job. ~Franklin P. Jones
