  • I need a Hippie Creative cut idea please

This is Eddie. I want to do something creative with him...like dreads for a TK...bell bottoms...something like that. Any ideas? I'm bored with the same old trim. Thanks in advance.

If your looking for an original Hippie idea... I remember those days.... hmmm maybe I dont... maybe I do... OH well...ROFL.
Since finding this board, I have seen some very creative people post here!
My ideas would be what is now considered retro sadly enough. I just hate seeing young gals wearing something I wore years ago... then calling it retro... I may still have the original...LOL.

being a black or darker coat - how about psychedelics? scissor in swirls, tye dye patterns, peace symbol... I was thinking about the peace hand signal but it may look like a playboy bunny instead...LOL. You could go with the 'thing today' vampire stuff... scissor in bats all over.. or mohawk... I had a girl way back when punk was it... she had a toy poodle, black, had me leave a mohawk over his head, down his back then poms around his feet... she spiked them with hair spray. Ive seen some groomers choose to show off their knowledge of 'other breeds'.. a Kerry Blue, a Bedlington, make him a OE or a Bouvier.

If you truly want to go retro.. and i mean what we used to do ALL the time (god I remember THOSE days...)
Town & Country, New yorker, Parisian, sweet heart, yea bell bottoms are making a come back but if you really want a challenge.. try one of the OLD patterns... it would look great on your dog!

Doing cords just on the TK would be really cool. You could even put a head band on him when they get long Or go the giant fro route like my dog lol. If you want REALLY hippi I would do some killer over exaggerated bell bottoms. Like the whole body with a #4 even down the legs a bit and flair them out HUGH at the bottom. Keep the shaved feet you won't be able to see them anyways lol. You could do a peace sign etching on his hip. Also I know there is a way to do color on black coat and it does look awesome. I have no idea how they do that though. Maybe someone here knows how it's done?

i used to do a mini poodle whose mom was very adventurous in her cuts. it's shame i never took photos, but my favorite cut on her was bell bottoms on her legs about 1/3 of the way down and left a "spike" collar around her neck. moussed it into spikes.

If you want to do dreads on the head I would go for the whole pirate theme myself.

One of my favorite creatives was a black dog done as "Disco Dog". He had a Fro, Bell bottoms and collared shirt. It was 70's, but done on a black dog. You can bleach them, I just don't.

well, real hippie would be to quit bathing, brushing, or trimming - wipe him down with patchouli oil, set incense around his crate so it scents his hair, let him cord, and let him grow out - then tie a bandana around his head to keep the topknot hair back, and hang some love beads around his neck.
I would think a bell-bottom shape on the legs, a corded topknot, and some beads would be cute and still livable.

                  Those were called elephant bells.

I was not a hippie. I was a flower child. Get him a really nice collar; paisley or flowery, and try to find a peace sign charm to hang from it.

Cords are not hippie. They're rastafarian. A big 'fro would be hippie, though. And if you're daring enough, big mutton chop sideburns.

                    Thank you everyone

for your creative input. Many wonderful ideas to incorporate into whatever I decide to do. I like the peace sign idea...and big bells was what I had in mind...covering his feet like our jeans did when I was a kid. I was thinking of a hip-hugger line and some kind of "shirt" line, but not sure how to have bell bottoms on the front legs if he's wearing a shirt. Hmmm, maybe "suede" tassels off his "shirt."

And I remember dreads and ponytails in the same outdoor concert crowd!

                    Thanks guys,
                    Vicki

how about making his jacket into a vest? if you bring his legs in tight to flair the legs farther out. I like the hip hugger idea too if he has long ears try to braid them .

                          Here is the first trim

OK, I'm too chicken to put dreads in Ed's Head..hehe...so, just gonna let it grow into a mullet or something (hubby's idea). And I suck at making circles for peace signs! But he sure loves getting groomed.

very cool, good job! I think it would be cute if you gave him "side burns" sorta like mutton chops too

I can't envision the line for the chops. Help.
