  • I'm way to new for newfies

We have these really yucky Newfies that have come to our shop since we opened in Aug 2006. They are always in terrible condition, plus they have very bad ligament problems in their limbs ( due to them being severely overweight). I can't get them looking good for their owners. Somehow I had both of them booked on me the last 2 times. They get way to tired, we have to take a lot of brakes and they use their weight to their advantage. Got any suggestions?

Oh and this is my 1st job working in a Grooming salon and I've been there since opening.

Yes, stop grooming newfies!!!!!!!! HV the undercoat out while conditioner is still on, then rinse, and hv again. do this in the tub so they can't turn, place dry towels in the tub bfore you start the final HV so if they sit, they won't re-wet themselves, and charge at least $125. per

After yesturday, there is note in their file saying I refuse to groom them. We aren't set up that well for them either. I can handle the small one with a nice coat that comes in every so often. But these 2 need someone with a lot more experience.

The last time I had repeat customer newfies in in bad shape I told the owner he had to keep them brushed out between grooms. I said that if he brought them in in that condition again I'd shave them!

He has kept them in good shape and on a regular schedule ever since.

we have at least one, maybe two newfies that groomers will tag team on - & split the commission. It's too much for one person ... having one hold him standing & the other groom helps & take turns doing that.

Thats a great idea! And yes we have wall hooks and they don't come off the floor for anything, not even the bath.

As for next time they come in I am off the hook.....I'm not allowed to do anything other than feet, face and sanitary when it comes to taking hair off

THEY ARE GETTING SHAVED....they just have to come in before I start training
