  • Miss Lucy gave birth to...

7 puppies last night...one pup didn't make it but so far the other 6 and miss lucy are doing great... they are so cute. I was really tickled, she did very good and really needed very little assistance at all...she just did an amazing job!!!

Congrats Ms. Lucy, and Ms. Cornbread! Enjoy your puppies. When you pick them up today, and snugle each one, don't forget a snuggle from me! Are you going to weigh them the first little bit to make sure all are thriving? I like to feed a little cottage cheese, and goat milk to a nursing mom with lots of babies to protect her from eclampsia. They really start to take a lot of the mom from 2-4 weeks.

Haven't got the pics yet but...

I will soon! It looks like they may all be black n white...one looks almost solid white but I haven't handled them a whole lot yet and he may be speckled a couple of the others are. I know shes done really well and I'm very proud of her. I will be weighing them probably later this afternoon so that I can weigh them pretty much around the same time every evening to keep track of their weight. I haven't given her any goats milk but she is on a supplement for lactating mothers I can't remember the name of it now...I think it was from the same makers of Nutri-Cal if I'm not just totally losing it.

It's so weird but she was "due" tomorrow (Nov 29th) but I fixed up the 10 x 10 kennel for her throughout the week...put in her igloo doghouse and cedar shavings all around the kennel and dog house. The weird part was I just finished her kennel area yesterday and then whaw...shes goes and has them hours later.

I will try to get some pictures here soon, tho...they are adorable!

It happened from my own ignorance really...Toby my Standard was under 6 mos old at the time and I didnt watch him well around her because I didnt think he'd be old enough to do anything and well now hes a daddy at less than 8 months old...but they are adorable!

I did figure out this evening after better inspection (the lighting in the garage is really dim) but they are not all black n white...some are sable and white as well>>> hopefully tomorrow I can get some pics, my batteries were dead and I couldnt get a decent pic with my cellphone!

Congrats and don't forget to tell all potential new owners that your pups will never need grooming, brushing, or bathing. *ducks and runs for cover* Hehehe.
