  • Which clipper brand for new Clipper Vac?

Today I received my new clipper vac in the mail. Now the question is, what clipper brand works well with this system?

    Does anyone have a favorite(s)?

I never thought to ask, but can I groom a cat with a clipper vac, if so what clippers are recommended?

    Laube

I'm a die-hard Laube fan! iVac for me. Lots of tourque lots of speed. CV keeps the blades cool. Best thing for the value. but then I have been using Laube for 20 years and the CV of 9...

I have also used the Oster, Andis (both square body and round body) and still keep coming back to my Laubes. Micro Minis, Mini lazor Lightning, and for course the 503's (the big guys).

Did you go to School or aprentice?

Usually if you go to school or apprentice you are taught how to use a clipper vac. It can be a wonderful addition to your equipment if used correctly. If you are in school or just learning ask for some instruction on it. You can surely use it on cats, it can be very tricky and you can catch their skin and cut them if you are not careful.

As far as what clipper to use, what brand do you use normally? Most clippers can be used with most models of vac systems. Ask where you got your vac what they have attachments for or go with an IVAC.

The iVAC would be good, but if not, I really like my square-bodied Andis Super 2 speed (the red one). VERY reliable, VERY easy to attach the clipper vac attachment to it, and VERY easy to fix if it falls off.

I do have the Laube Litening but the thing is a PAIN IN THE KAHOOSH to get the clipper vac attachment on it. So I stick with my Andis.

Whatever clipper you decide on having, it is a good idea to have a back-up clipper AND back-up clipper vac attachment to go on that particular clipper.

Congrats on your purchase, start out slowly, as it takes getting used to. Open the little cover (regulator) for doing the belly at first, because it'll give the dog a hicky if you're not used to it, lol.

I love mine. And YES, by all means, it is wonderful for cats---I WILL NOT GROOM A CAT WITHOUT IT. IT is SOOOO much easier!

I dont know what size hose you have on your vac Tammy, but my new attachment for the IVAC for my Laube clippers is just a plate that screws on in place of the plate that is already there. Its not bulky at all and you leave it on all the time, just detatch the hose when you dont want to use it.

I started out with my Andis red square body clippers and was happy. I later "upgraded" to lighter weight and bought the Laube Litening, the attachment for it fell apart the first time I tried to use it! (So that is now my non clipper vac clipper) Then I got the IVAC. LOVE IT! No more hose in my way! I had no problem changing out the hose to use the one that came with the IVAC so did not need a special attachment for it. The hose comes out the bottom of the clipper itself so I don't have it sticking out the front side.

PGA, it was not easy at all to get that plate on---the little nuts have to be held in place with one hand (mind you, they're in a hole in part of the clipper) while the other hand tries to screw the little tiny screw into the nut without pushing the nut out of the hole from the other side. BIG PAIN for the Litenings. I think that the attachment is different on the LItenings than with the iVAC. I'm fairly competent with mechanical things, particular clipper vac parts and such, but this was a true pain in the rear.

Im considering the Ivac, but my experience with Laubes are breakdowns over and over something. My mini lightening that I loved, died. So it was back to the andis..good ole dependables lol should I buy the master vac? clipper vac/ hanvey taxi? which oneeeee???? too many choices and I can't make up my mind! its tough being a woman <sigh>

I have the mini lazors but I think this attachment goes on all of the Laubes. It is designed to allow the IVAC hose to be used on other Laube clippers. I actually like it better than using the IVAC handpiece because the mini lazors are more powerful and they are variable speed whilst the IVAC is two speed. I find that the hose just curls around my hand and I dont have the problem with the IVAC handpiece that you have be careful not to cover the regulator with your finger or hand when it is open or it will clip unevenly. It is in the wrong place, they need to move it.
