this is my first yr going to hershey.
do they have cab or shuttles to take you to the convention center?
we will be flying out of dayton.oh what is the closest airport?
just looking for some inside help.

I think its Harrisburg which is about 20-30 minutes away. I'd probably rent a car. Check out hotels.com where you can get deals and book air/flight/car at the same time. Have fun. Not sure yet if I can go this year. Trying to save for Disney too.

I drove the last 3 years I went from Indiana & my friends that flew have all rented cars. I think some of the hotels may have shuttles, but not very many. If you don't want to rent a car, call the cab companies there and ask them how much to your hotel.

Have fun. I'm not going this year, I'm going to Chicago instead to save money for our family vacation.

Check with the hotel...the convention center is attached so if you stay there, you just have to walk through the hotel to get there! There are restaurants in the hotel as well so you don't have to leave. Also, I believe they will set you up with a shuttle van from the airport to the hotel. I've been driving (only 1.5 hours away) for the past 18 years or so. I went to the first one and have only missed 2 or 3 since then! I stay at a cheap travel lodge (there are a lot of them around) to save money. If I were flying, the hotel might be a better deal, especially if you can get a roommate.

I'll be driving up again this year for the Groom Expo too. Last year we stayed in a chinsey little hotel in Hummelstown - it was FANTASTIC!! It was just a short drive to the Convention Center and I love the old original historic stuff in downtown. Plus we hit the weekend they had a big street craft thing and that was awesome! Felt like I had hit the lotto with the street craft sale and the Expo all in one weekend. Definitely going to stay there again! Sometimes those little dinky localy owned hotels are the best.

watch staying at the convention center. Very pricey! Beautiful place but very expensive no matter what meal you eat.

The hotel will provide a shuttle to and from the airport at $35 roundtrip (that's what they charged me last year). The convention center is right there so you don't have to worry about taxi's. They have a few restaurants on site and they are all pretty good. You basically don't have to move from the lodge when you get there. I went by myself and I felt very safe. The airport is Harrisburg and it's about 20-25 minutes from the lodge. If you can, take the shuttle over to their other hotel and book yourself some spa time..... it's fabulous!!!!
