OH great. Do you guys remember a month or so ago that I said some strange "former groomer" called me and wanted me to just brush out her "coated" shep? I told her no cauz I am mobile and it is all a package. Well, she called me again and convinced me to do CUJO tomorrow full groom. Supposidly this dog is not real people friendly and needs muzzled. No other groomer would take him becuase he can't be caged he goes balistic and can't be around other animals. UGH. Why do I get myself into this ****. I told her when I get there I will hand her a muzzle and she will stay in the trailer with me the whole time. I also told her the first time he tries to get me he is out of there and she will be charged the full amount. OH yeah, he is also supposidly a "trained" attack dog.
If your dog is fat, you are not getting enough exercise!

YIKES. Did you say you don't have a Groomers Helper? Take the dog for a quick walk before you take him into the van, watch how he acts, stay calm yourself---remember that YOU have the option to say, "Sorry Pirahna face, not today!" That power alone will give you the confidence you need to see his real personality come out. I hope this helps, please keep your face and hands safe, girl!
Just a thought, of course you'll do what you think is best...
I've noticed that dogs never behave as well with their owners around. I don't know if they feed off of their owners anxiety or what. Maybe you should have her on standby for a while to see how it goes?
My biggest caution dogs ended up not being so bad once they trusted me. Sometimes I think it's harder to form a bond with the owner there. I always felt confident though before taking on the dog. I agree with Spikey about the walk. It'll give him the idea with you on the end of the lead that you're the boss now.
You're a smart cookie Lisa, you'll know what's right when you see him.
the owner is a former groomer. She quit because she dislocated both of her shoulders. This was a nerve racking groom. when he was in the tub, he was fine except singing. I was rinsing off the first shampoo and she grabbed the shampoo and started scrubbing his head again. UGH. so whatever. then when I was getting ready to to the second shampoo, I had to refill and she was feeling him to make sure I got everywhere. but on a good note. he bit her not me lol. she stayed at his head. he was very relaxed in the tub. but when it got to brushing that is when he turned into a brat. They had his k-9's ground down so he does less damage when he bites. That is sooooo bad. I would not want to do him without her there. She has pretty good controll of him for the most part. She asked for more of my cards and said she is going to pass them around. She scissored his feet while I was brushing him out. Then she used my clippers to skim his butt. He is a long haired guy. When she got him he had already bit 3 people and was ordered to be put down. She said she was very pleased with me and I was like ok.

You did good Lisa! Did you get a comfort level at any point with him besides the bath?
Next time you won't be as anxious cuz you know what to expect. Are you glad you will be grooming him again or still unsure?
I will be glad to do him again, but on the condition that the owner is in the trailer. She did good with him and even cleaned my tub while I was drying him lol. She offered to help with the final clean up, but I told her no.
